The record crowd for a Melbourne V Fremantle game at the MCG is 27,000 back in 2017 when we lost a game at the death we really should've won. (2017 was certainly a year of coulda shoulda wouldas)

If it's 50% capacity, and at the very least you book tickets the week they are released, I can't see anyone missing out on round1 if they make the effort to book.

Badically  the member is Only getting a seat allocation ticket for tracing purposes so UGTBK you are Wrong!

Yes Covid has reduced many Families with any optional spending but the $5 fee has been constant fir non members just casually going to games at most venues!

Gen Admission will pay the fee!!

Thank you for the patronising update. I'll wait to see what happens when tickets go on sale.

We let Freo build up a lead early, then huffed and puffed to finally get our noses in front late in the 4^th only to switch off at the death leaving McCarthy on his own to collect the ball over the top and kick the winning goal. Rotten defending. I remember cos I kicked the seat in front in disgust.

DR As i  have previously Posted in this topic ( having been through the AFL Covid crowd conditions in 2020 as a member of the Gabba Trust (  think MCC Members tiny replica) all groups are considered in the reduction of crowds scenario.

However  the word PRIORITY is not mentioned anywhere in Covid conditions but TRACABILITY is the underlying non negotiable in all ticket transactions.

So much so that at the 50% reduced crowd numbers for the recent 4th Test Cricket Covid seating and distancing featured.

Last night The same purchase arrangements and ground terms and conditions featured although 75% or full ground capacity was approved and our section had everyone next to each other with the most members since the 2019 Test and AFL season.
 

So D/L ers expecting to retain their option to walk into an choose a seat are going to be disappointed. All attending must get a ticket ( even members with "reserved seats" will need to) To enable all attending to able to be traced if necessary. No charge or $0.00 is on your ticket and only Gen admission purchases are mostly loaded with the $5/7 ticket booking surcharge.

Yes, I was there too. I wasn't surprised. That play/goal had an air of inevitability about it.  

Well 25- 30k are allowed at the Tennis so surely in a much bigger venue like the G should be ok for 50k. Assume the home club gets 2/3 of that number then 33k would see most members catered for each home game.

Judy having a reserved seat does not help tracing but a ticket for $0.00 does and you will need to abide by the same rules as all attendees at AFL games.

What  distancing ( if any) that may be applied early in the season is the other key.

This  has happened In the Brisbane games of AFL and last weeks Test  Match in the Gabba Trust members area.

it is quite simple really and protects you as much as the persons in your vicinity.

Also get used to Card Only transactions  St the venues.

I am presuming that MCC/MFC members won’t need to book to allow tracing? ? With  our barcode we get automatically recorded entering the “G”.

While they need to know who was at the ground, it's more about knowing where in the ground you were. So I fully expect that everyone will need to book a ticket and that will have your designated seat for that game. I had to do the same thing as a SACA (MCC equivalent in SA) member for the cricket this summer.

It's 30k across each of the 3 zones at the tennis, which should mean about 50% capacity for the major courts. The Margy Court zone might actually be the best deal rather than the biggest courts.

In Brisbane some areas have had tickets Sold in twos with gaps of two or one.Later groups of up to six have been sold also at the Test match last week.

I reckon they will just close off the top section. It doesn't make much sense to spread everyone around only to have to have the upper level food, bar and toilets open and staffed.

Boydie yes same for AFL and BBL plus Test cricket in the Gabba Trust ( Qld style MCC area ) area fir both seasons. 
 

I have posted this about 3 times but either not read or notice taken and explained that seat traceability is the reason and a ground pass ( ie members ticket ) with no seat (unless some arrangement for Reserved  seat holders is Arranged) is not sufficient to trace.
 

Importantly members ticket holders DO NOT have any fees charged for the $0.00 seat ticket Necessary to Enter the ground and remain all day at.

Nearly posted this morning that WA is the only footballing State not to have had a breakout with assoicated border closures in the last 12 weeks.

Looks like we now have a full house

Who knows what the next 12 weeks will bring.

I have been saying for months that this season will be disrupted DJ. It only takes one state to shut the bordet and all the plans get thrown in the air. Look at the girls comp. at present.

The MCG, if unable to cater for large crowds, should consider utilising the car park and setting up big screens outside the stadium for the fans, in Yarra Park. They have done similar with the cricket and I think it should be considered in 2021. I know tht winter offers up some problems weather wise, but a lot of paid up members, both MFC and MCC will miss out on tickets to bigger matches if there is a 50% crowd capacity. The same applies to other clubs. Just a thought

The MCG is capable for large crowds it's just that Covid  Plan is needed to be agreed upon at the ground  and all other AFL venues.

About 50% seems ok early days and as the season progresses slightly more fans fir bigger games like Anzac Eve and QB for us. 
 

There is no need for ridiculous additions in the park like the tennis ( good there but in an enclosed venue) as it is too open to have Covid plans sensibly applied and unnecessary for crowd numbers anyway.
