I'm glad he's getting an opportunity but he's not missed one bit.

He was ok for them earlier on before his concussion. 
He will never be a star but he’s been a good contributor and will be better when Wright gets back.

He was woeful against St Kilda. He was back to his timid self that game. Reading the essendon boards after their loss they wanted him dropped.

Can't say I agree with the Wright comment. What difference will he make that McDonald and Brown couldn't over the past couple of years?

The Weid in a nutshell: A+ for character, A- for ability, B for consistency. If he can improve on the third category he still has an AFL future. Just sad that it wouldn't be with Melbourne.

Well Wright is a bigger body than Tmac and is better at this stage of his career than BB. 
I am not saying Weideman will ever be an A grade footballer but he will be a handy forward for them if he’s finally let the penny drop. 

In the last quarter, he unfortunately dropped three key marks inside forward 50 and missed the best chance for the Bombers from 15metres out.   He didn’t have the intensity and hunger that AFL requires.

It is official folklore of the Eighties (and from ex-players, too) that rugged Essendon full-back Ronnie Andrews would toughen up the downy-cheeked recruits by taking them pig-shooting.  Now we know where we were went wrong.

I will say there were moments where he looked like he played more intent and attacked the footy. Held some marks early on but that miss on the run 20 out did hurt the Dons.

He'll play some good games and help them but we've moved on from him.

Well done Sam. Really pleased for you, particularly when it was on such a big occasion, in front of a massive crowd. Hope your progress is all upward from here.

What I saw of the game he looked good. But other times as you have mentioned he's not.   Good luck to him as he's getting paid a bit to play the game we love.  

I only wish him well.  Did ok on a very big stage.  Good luck to him.

When Wright is back, I expect Weideman will play the second KPF/relief ruckman role. That will push Andrew Phillips out of the side. In effect, a player who plays well in 1 in about 8 games will replace someone who plays well in about 1 in 10. More relevantly for Essendon, though, it will mean Wright won't have to second ruck meaning he can play permanently forward where he is better suited and much more dangerous. In short, notwithstanding his weaknesses, Weideman is a good get for Essendon.

Asking for a friend who’s sick to death of hearing Weids being disparaged, ESPECIALLY since he no longer plays for us.

We're all happy he's getting an opportunity but from a playing perspective he absolutely doesn't have a spot in our forward line ahead of JVR or Petty.

Even Ben Brown Brown who's played less gamed then Weideman this has kicked more goals then him still.
