Bad option by Kelly to handball inboard. He had players loose on the outside.

Never do I support a Pies win, but gees it’s nice to see West Coast lose at home. A really good win in a very tough season for them in terms of injuries and travel. But they made no excuses and got on with it.

And once again.... bad goal kicking is bad football.

And to think - we towelled them up

We toweled up an injury riddled out of form version of them. They just beat the Eagles in Perth in finals. Credit to them. We didn’t even get close to doing that in our best year in 15 years!

Pies made no excuses and got the job done. We need to grow up and start doing the same. No more excuses!

Ugh 1 point. All those opportunities they had in the beginning of that final term and couldn't kick a goal.

I hate you west coast for inflicting another week of us having to hear about this win, having to hear the pies for another week in finals and hearing and seeing Ed be happy.

Unbelievable

After watching the game live tonight (dogsvsaints) and after a few beverages during and after the game we are so far off being a finals side it’s not funni.

Goodwin better pull his finger out of his backside if we are to be any good next season.

Actually, if Naitanui plays against the Doggies in Round 16 we would have been a finals side.

What a game!

Are you telling me all those Collingwood supporters live in Perth? Something fishy going on here. Looks like people smugglers were busy this week getting certain groups across multiple borders. Or did they arrive via boats.

So it's certainly worth noting that Port, Brisbane, St Kilda and now Collingwood (who look like they're home) are through.

Of those four teams, Port we failed to turn up, Brisbane we were a simple set shot from Harley away from winning, we beat St Kilda and we beat Collingwood.

We missed a shot after the siren to Geelong and stopped for a quarter against the Bulldogs and Richmond. The latter game we used the ball terribly in.

Despite not getting the job done this year, it has to be said with a few tweaks, a few new additions to the best 22, another pre season under Burgess, Goodwin's job on the line and increased consistency and we're not a world off 4th-6th position next year.

Yeah, I don’t really get the consistent ‘watching these games we are a mile off’. I really don’t think we are.

love seeing the west coast get beat in Perth and their feral supporters losing their minds.

That was another cracking game of footy. A bonus Eddie wasn’t at the ground so we didn’t have to see his face on tv.

You have to admire a side that can go over there and win a final.

Pies played very well. I fancy them to beat Geelong next week.

And can I also just say how happy I am that they stuck it up WA and their moronic premier who is keeping his borders shut for financial rather than medical reasons.
He has been a [censored] since day one. Made it as hard as possible for the AFL. Serves him and his team right (I assume he’s an arrogant WC fan just because he carries himself like a total [censored])

Pies didn’t have to make excuses. In the last 9 rounds of the season they had 7 games at the Gabba, travelled out of Queensland once (to Adelaide v Adelaide when they were at their worst) and had a bye. Well done to them but they really had an armchair ride into the finals compared to us.

Or maybe he managed the risk better than chairman dan?

We are a VFL side compared to 3 games this weekend.
i hope the Club realize it.
The Filth went over there and refused to lie down. Refused

That is what this Club has to believe as a Standard otherwise we are wasting everyones time.
People say Cox can’t play AFL

He plays really well in Finals...

If, but’s and maybes but we ain’t and it’s our own fault we aren’t playing finals at the end of the day.

Stop making excuses! We need to grow up and get past this mentality as a club and as a supporter base.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
