It could be something like TMac and Jetta to Collingwood for Tom Phillips and a second round pick

Any decent wingmen would, but that's not really the question.

The questions are:
1. Does his limited skills and contested ability see those B+F results start to slide over the new few years - he wouldn't be the only hard running type of player to have peaked by 23 (see T. Bugg or A.N-B).

2. Is Isaac Smith (for free) better for a couple of years for free whilst we work on a long term replacement who we can draft with the pick we won't have to give up for Phillips

I'm not so sure the Pies would be so keen to move Phillips on if they thought he had 100 solid games left in him. Chris Mayne's their other wingmen and he's just about done, they could find a way to hold on to the salary if they really wanted to. 2 years of Isaac Smith and allocate the draft resources towards finding longer term solutions - in particular guys who can kick would be my preferred result.

Sidebottom and Daicos.

Why is it that every player that gets pushed out of a club all of a sudden seen as damaged goods? They obviously see Daicos as a better talent and I would agree, the kid is an absolute gun. Why keep around Phillips if he's surplus to needs and can free up salary for other moves. Phillips fits in that same mould as Langdon (definitely a better kick) runs really hard as that link between D50 and forward half. Our improvement on the outside purely from Langdon as that outlet was enormous for our structure and I'd take that over the kicks he ends up shanking.

To Langers credit he did clean up his disposal after the 1st game against West Coke.

Such as ? He is a first round draft pick!!!

Can play HB HF and I presume wing and even on the ball

A young player of high potential better than any of our 15/30 list players based on 2020 form and Suns ready to offload him cheaply.

we already screwed our game plan over this year trying to fit 27 inside mids into the side, now we're trying to rectify that recruiting brodie is absolutely wrong

Viney, Brayshaw, Oliver, Trac, Jones, Harmes, vanders, sparrow all played in the same side this year and u want to add one more into the mix ur having a giraffe

Phillips can play, as evidenced by B&F placings a year or two ago, but he does torch it by foot too often.

That said, it's not the worst option.

definitely think that's what they'll be after Dazzle, they obviously have a role in mind for Nev, and we can definitely use the run of Phillips, they get some cap relief

Win-Win

Not every trade has to be equally valued assets, as long as it's advantageous for both parties.

Don't think he's quite in the shape/mould of a winger and certainly doesnt have the speed to work as that hard 2 way runner. I think our numerous experiments with Tomlinson, Jones and AVB have proven that bigger body midfielder type struggles as a purely outside player.

You forgot former Dees Winger Dom Tyson.

It was perplexing that we waited till last few games of season  to play 2 wingman. Landon had a good year, Baker showed good signs when he finally came in. Both back pocket to forward pocket runners who can get forward or back to cover  a team mate or be an option. Philips disposal may not be perfect but if he has those attributes we'd have room in our 22. All depends on what Maggies want trade wise and his choice of club. If its a salary cap dump then Pires don't have a strong hand.

Would probably have to throw in a 3rd round pick too i reckon

No we wouldn't. They need cap relief and Nev is contracted. We have the whip hand.

Turner so You  are happy with our Last 15/30 players form on our list.

isnt the idea to improve our playing list so that we can gather 26/26 classy players on our list doable if playing different positions if necessary.

I suspect you dont even know who Brodie  is snd are too lazy to search.

He is about 21 188 cm and 85/90 kg and is a First Round draft pick of about 2 years ago.Generally a flanker and can play tall fir his height and has good pace.

Is versatile snd would have a decade or more footy left and ai think is a Victorian.

GC are looking to offload and have too many of his type.

I will check my facts and i I paste eith any further info Turner.

Have we actually shown interest in Phillips?

Jetta for Phillips?

A 30 year old on his decline with one top 10 B&F finish in three years who finished the second half of the year out of our  best side

Vs

A 24 year old coming into his prime with 2 top 6 finishes inn three year who lost his spot due to injury.

I know they need to clear some space but surely it will cost us more than Jetta?

bro i know who he is, like cool but we have players developing as inside mids already yes he would improve our list because hes a talented player but he doesnt improve the structure of our side and we shouldn't recruit for the 2s specifically until we have a good 22

Was Phillips injured or just not getting a game? If hes on good money, they'd be keen to offload him like we are with Tmac.

Would prefer him to an elderly Smith anyway.

Injured and pushed out of his normal position from the wing to a half forward due to the emergence of Daicos.

Picked up a leg injury if I recall correctly towards the end of the year that put him out for at least 4-5 games. Was pushing for selection for their final against the Eagles but didnt make it. I think a straight swap Tmac for Phillips would be beneficial for all involved.

I wouldn't go after him because he is only a marginal increase in the overall quality of our list. I'm much more keen to see Baker continue to develop. I know he isn't a left footer, but he is very quick and showed a heap of improvement.

Baker hasn't proved himself yet, whereas Phillips can come in straight away and make an impact immediately.  Let's not shy away that Phillips has been a big contributor for Collingwood when they have gone deep into finals the past few years.

Maybe I am impatience, but Baker is still unproven at this stage. One of his biggest weakness is his tank. Phillips like Langdon, will run up and down the wing using his endurance power to run the game out hard.

I like Baker and think we should continue to invest in his development. However, from an overall list perspective I'd prefer that he was out understudy wing option. So, by all means look at bringing someone like Phillips in.

Lol no chance. Nev has no trade value. Id be laughing my head off if someone told me Nev was worth more than Phillips.

We're basing a lot of this on speculation. The speculation says Collingwood are looking at Nev for a multi-year contract.

They want Nev and they're happy to part with Phillips.

KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
