Congratulations to the top 5. Whilst I personally would have had Oliver and Langdon above Viney, ultimately it's a reflection of great years for all five of them.

Special mentions to Hibberd, who bounced back well after a shocking Round 1 performance and from being dropped, and Weideman, who made the most of his opportunity after not being selected for so long at the start of the year.

Very surprised to see Brayshaw finish as high as he did. Would not have argued for him to be a top 10 B&F finished this year.

Disappointed to see Lever, Melksham, Tomlinson and vandenBerg score so low. Not surprised at all by Melksham's poor result. The surprise is that he didn't get dropped. Lever only just missed the top 10 but that's a disappointing result, and a surprising one. I would have happily said he had a better year than Brayshaw, Hibberd and Weideman who all finished above him.

Nice to see Trac win, May rewarded with 3 trophies, and Langdon finish Top 5. It's a much better reflection of individual seasons then the absolute atrocity that is AA selection.

Surprised that Viney got third, but he always polls well and his speech was classy AF. You sometimes forget how hard hub life must have been for certain players until you hear stuff like that. Pure class to start off with Wagners and Dunkley acknowledgement too.

I'm not a Goody basher like some others on here, but he really is not a good public speaker.

This. His speech was the highlight.

FMD there's a lot of sourpusses here who can't even congratulate a young key foward who finished in 10th place for fear that their confirmation bias might actually be questioned

Hardly 'supporters'

Clearly Goodwin is the only person who still rates Melksham given how few votes he scored for someone who played every game despite failing form.
Further shows that Goodwin plays favorites.

For those wanting Jack out the door yet again he has finished in the top 10 of the B & F and as much as he frustrates me with his repeated flaws he is still in the top 3 of the club. I know he has a contract before him and cannot see Geelong who never pay overs matching it.

I didn't think him weird, he explained every time he gets on stage he goes blank. Cut him some slack I bet neither he nor his wife are getting lots of sleep at the moment. he stays!

There were a number of games early in the season where we were extra woeful.

Viney carried us through a number of those games. He's a lot like Jones was in his best years, nothing flash but just wills himself into the contest and just continues to compete.

Would have been interesting to see the game by game votes.

I think a lot here will be surprised with Viney but well done to him an outstanding year after many predicted he would throw the toys out of the pram

And to Trac, May, Langdon and Oliver you are the future.

Lol outstanding year...

Salem ??
Brayshaw ???

Hibberd ??
Weideman ???

I had Lever in 7th due to playing every game and was certainly improved as the year went on. I guess his 11th placing was a bit low but gives him incentives for 2021. He played every game. Burgo gets a ??

Still scratching my head with Weid though. ?

Mate I dont have to take a good hard look! ! After supporting heart and soul, and personally knowing former players, and putting my hard earned into the club over many years without success then I reckon I like many on this site are OWED BLOODY BIG TIME!

But over and over and over again this club CONTINUES to tease, torture and ultimately Underachieve time and time again! You want me to take a look? Yeah well the Admin, coaches and many players who OWE us need to take a bigger more introspective look. Dont knock me for passion! If I see underachievement and pizz weak efforts then Ill call it out.Thats MY opinion and as always after all thats what Demonland is about.

So dont friggen tell me to take a good hard look! Vent ur spleen on  a perrenially underachieving non relevant at this stage club!! By the way I never knocked Weeds for his 10th finish,so dont misquote or put words in my mouth!!

Congratulations to Christian who proved there is reward for hard work. Sounds like he decided to buckle down and put in the hard yards for this year going by the remarks from the coach and his own family.

Also well done to the other Christian for a good showing in the Top Ten.

Touching speech from Steven May. He enjoyed the feeling of belonging to the big family in the hub.

I have no idea if that is true, but Max doesnt live in Qld, his wife and extended family are in Victoria, he has a couple of side businesses in Melbourne he's been absent from, perhaps he needs specific medical treatment that he'd prefer to get in his home city.

I'd say fair enough if he has left Qld to come home.

That's my conclusion.

It hasn't been implied that he breached some COVID rules, has it?

Harmes had a shocker.

Only missed 4 games and didn't even make the top 20.

Geez yeah I forgot about Harmes.

Has there been a bigger fall from grace for Harmes and Tmac since 2018? Genuine top 5 players and now they’ve just fringe players who can’t even crack the top 20.

Forgot a special mention to Michael Hibberd. It's been a tough year for him, losing his brother. He has shown strength and fortitude.

Someone buy Melksham a mirror coz he needs to take a good hard look at himself.

his BNF result reflects his poor year

The Captain wasn’t at the B&F??

Strange.

The whole thing had a weird vibe.

Maybe coz the year ended in a sour note.

The Bennell situation.
The bum pinching
Players being delisted
Missing  finals

Covid , had to live together so they are just all over it.

Others wanting to leave , like TMac.

It was just too soon from seasons end.

No   the implication is he flew home today so, couldn't have done the B&F tonight live. Nothing sinister at all

Some Demonlanders underestimating Jack Viney as usual. He can play a fair bit better and still came third.

A good chance for another Bluey next year.

For those saying he looked weird - good chance he is still filthy at himself and the team for another failed year. No one cares more than Jack

All in all  I thought it was a dead old show .I dont know if this results from the players disappointment in not making the finals or from my disappointment in us not making the finals .I have been to more joyous funerals .It may be just a nervous twitch but Goody has to get rid of that seeming half smirk that appears at the most inappropriate times .Maybe everyone is just tired at the end of an incredibly trying year but the Count did not have an optimistic feel  for next year about it.

Mellsham had a terrible year. I have no idea why he kept getting games. He shouldn't have ever been captain.

But I don't know how you can take from this that the other coaches don't rate Melksham, but Goody played favourites so he stayed in. What evidence is there that this decision was his alone?

Do you think the captaincy was soley Goodwin's call and not supported by the other coaches?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
