Graeme Yeats' Mullet 6,791 Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 If Tmac is really on the coin that was thrown around earlier, then unfortunately we're likely stuck with him He's going to need to get fitter, faster and perform Quote

Ted Lasso 19,586 Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 One player who i think would be gettable, allbeit expensive is Harry McKay. i reckon he's an immediate upgrade on Weid and has plenty of upside moving forward. Kind of ironic because we passed McKay to take Weid and were interested in both. I feel like outside run and class is still our biggest need and that's where the bulk of our cap should be spent at this stage, but if we could get McKay in. even if it cost us a good pick. i think we'd be better for it 3 Quote

Reckon he'll break out in a good side (ie next year or two). When you say expensive, do you mean contractually or trade-wise? Would love a forwardline of Weideman, McKay and Jackson. george_on_the_outer 7,867 Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 Mihocek is the one that is gettable. Out of contract, and the Pies have salary cap problems trying to keep DeGoey, Moore and Daicos in the side. 9 Quote

I mean more trade wise. i don't even know if the Blues would entertain it though they are in a position they could offload a key forward to get another need filled, possiblty inside mid support for Cripps. Would be poor list strategy from the Blues IMO. Curnow is no certainty to get back to his early career form. Trading out another legitimate KPF would be stupid. So what do you think we'll have to give them? ;) I don't like the idea of helping the Blues midfield brigade. Quote

Luke Jackson may or may not be a key forward but hes still a teenager either way. Mitch brown is the best tall forward on our list as he showed today and hes 30. We need to recruit a gun KPF this trade period or 2021 will be another waste of everyones time. How about Joe Daniher ??? Quote

Yeah it's hard to see them being keen on trading him but i think he is someone we could ask about. we'd probably have to give up either a very strong pick or a starting player Quote

He is one of their best young prospects. I'd say there is no chance they would even consider trading him. 2 Quote
layzie 34,527 Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 If the Blues were stupid enough to give up Mckay then of course, great hands and overhead marking and has been a late bolter this season. 2 Quote

I'd swap a mid for a KPF. You need to give to get, or you go to the draft and wait years to see if a 17 year old turns out to be the answer. I don't actually think we need a gun key forward though, we just need a guy who can consistently get to contests and bring the ball to ground. For those who said Weid was strong in the contest today, how many times did he not even make it to the contest? Edited September 19, 2020 by Rogue 3 Quote

The one area of the ground I don't rate for them is their midfield. It's basically Cripps and the rest are triers. I think it'd be dangerous to give a competitor like that one of our gun mids. I rate McKay, but he's not a bonafide A grader. Edited September 19, 2020 by A F Quote
ProperDee 1,698 Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 Is Darcy Fogarty worth a look? Not happy at the Crows apparently. Big, strong lad with a touch of mongrel in him and still only 20. 1 Quote

While he's got the physical attributes of a power forward, he's only 192cm tall. Quote

May is a star and been the difference bw winning and losing several games. Long overdue to fix the other end. Weid is still and unknown commodity. Has played some rippers but has npt featured at all in quite a few as well. Jackson shiws great promise but is only young and has played few games. Like May, we need a proven player at ff. Cameron? 1 Quote

Get rid of their best young key forward. Yes that will happen. Weid, LJ ,Petty and TMac ( back to full fitness) is a start, with Brown also for another year to pinch hit. Yes if we can get a good key forward, absolutely. Edited September 20, 2020 by Redleg Quote

I dont think he Is a priority that solves our problems but would not say no if it made sense as part of a broader plan. Quote
Ted Lasso 19,586 Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Jack Gunston would probably be the ideal one in terms of him being an immediate improvement of the best 22 but also highly experienced and providing that on field leadership and helping Weideman develop the bit of forward craft he's currently lacking. our entire forward line is lacking a bit of system so a key forward who could help with that would be a huge bonus 1 Quote
