He's really got the yips. He's Ian Baker-Fritsch.

Every year, I end up with post-of-the-year. I now have it. This is pure gold. For me and my household, this nickname will now stick (unless he fixes his goal kicking).

I wouldn't be getting too excited just yet.

We should be far more than 28 points up. They are absolutely atrocious. But they are a confidence team and despite their defensive pressure being terrible they're still generating inside 50s and getting some looks. If they get an early goal or two, or worse, if Daniher gets his hands on the ball, we know we can concede goals.

Fritsch's goal kicking is getting worse.

Gawn, Oliver, Petracca, Langdon, Salem and ANB all playing really well.

If this is our last game, Hunt, Brown and ANB are giving the club something to think about.

our third quarters are statistically our worst

Sam Weideman handballing to Jayden Hunt for the certain goal is one of the best things I've seen in recent weeks. Weed hasn't kicked a goal in a long time and didn't need to give it. Much respect.

It was a selfless percentage play for sure - a tougher kick on the run on his right foot at that angle vs Hunt in perfect location - my heart was in my mouth from Weid's heavily weighted handpass but can't complain about the result!

And probably their best

Needs to talk to a psychologist, he is obviously pressuring/stressing, himself into poor kicking. It is a confidence issue.

Really needs to fix this.

For his size, he does very well in marking contests.

Joe Daniher 0/0/0/0/0

His value taking a huge hit.

And Sydney breathes a sigh of relief

How good was Oliver's second quarter? Sure, the Essendon midfield is laughable, but he is close to unstoppable when he takes the game on. Still my favourite player. Sorry Trac. ?

Has anyone ever missed finals with a percentage of 109% ?

How many first round picks can we give them for him? Too soon?

Well probably give it to Collingwood for another of their potatoes.

The Nibbler is nibbling  sign him up for another 2 years.     That will make his critics SMILE !

Watch Daniher end up at the Giants. Cameron to Carlton.

Need to be professional in the 3rd to kill any hope for the Bombers. They are in horrible form but can pile on a few quick.

Midfield is dominant but Salem is in the top 3 on the ground.

Terrible option Weideman, the exact opposite of what we need going inside 50.

Basic mistakes again and again.

Dons putting zero pressure on our mids. They are a rabble. Woosha's legacy tarnished.

Reckon there will be a conga line waiting to leave.

Welcome to Melbourne, Adam Saad!

He got to close to man on mark so had to kick under it. Didn’t look good kicking to 2:1 with one being spargo

That blonde umpire is probably one of the worst I have ever seen. No understanding of how a game plays out, no sense of occasion, just completely clueless. We’ve had more of our share of him this year.

All the play Essendon shot on goal

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
