Yes, Danger spent most of the 3rd quarter chatting with the goal umpire. Their most damaging player. In the GF!

With Geelong forming a dad's army with Higgins and Smith, maybe we can pry a quality young player out that may be starved of opportunity either this year or next. Maybe Clark? Would love for them to fall off a cliff with an ageing list and then lose their young talent in the process.

Smith is a double agent, Alastair Clarkson has sent him to Geelong so he can age their list, a young player will either get delisted, or not get games, and rot on the vines. Smith is finished, he's disposal efficiency for this season has dropped by a whopping 8% from his career average, that is the first sign of a ageing player, who can not run all day and execute his skills at a high level. This season he would play a great game and then not fire a shot for the next 4 games. higgings is 32 he had a few injuries this season, his body is finished, he will breakdown.

Jed Anderson from North is still out of contract. Pacey midfielder. Anything going around about him @Dr evil?

His management are telling teams he's staying at North Melbourne. not sure what the hold up is on his extension but he's not gettable at this stage.

What's a bigger disaster for the cats, signing Smith, (who i still believe is coming to the Dees) and losing Menegola. or not starting Dangerfield in the middle at the start of the 3rd quarter in the grand final?

I am either missing the /jk tag or else you believe ISmith could still be headed our way - do you still think this? If so, interesting. What would make that series of events occur?

It’s a joke

@Dr evil besides Sideshow Bob joining us, do you have any updates at all on who we are targeting? Love your work chief

Mahoney reckons we are done with Brown likely to be the only trade IN and likely to get 3 or 4 players traded out.

FFS. WE NEED OUTSIDE RUNNERS.
A WINGMAN (Phillips) AND MAYBE ANOTHER PACY SMALL FORWARD (Hind)

We must push the button now or we may go backwards again

@Lord Nev thank you for the update. If we're looking at Treloar, would Tmac to the filth be apart of that deal do you think?

I don't think we're looking at Treloar. Haven't heard anything to suggest it.

You'd have to ask Dr Evil about that one.

Anyone know of any good trade targets?

Yes let's get this back on topic hey?

The ruck/forward role was interesting from Mahoney. We've interviewed a few potential prospects already. I'm guessing Shaun McKernan is one. Wonder who else We've spoken to?

Yeah i certainly did find that interesting. felt like he was putting the message out to managers of fringe players who play that role who might be looking for another club. I can't imagine it being anyone better than fringe as we wouldn't wanna take game time away from the big 3

Doesn’t Ben Brown solve this as a third option? McKernan makes sense also.

Brown doesn't ruck.

Agree. It will take a lot of guts to come in for this role, especially when you have Weid, Brown Nd Jackson already ahead.

I'd imagine if no options come forward we may keep Mitch Brown for another year?

Purely guessing:

Nathan Vardy (likely stays at Eagles if Hickey goes to the Swans)
Max Lynch - out of contract Collingwood ruck
Sam Hayes - 3rd in line to ruck at Port
Callum Coleman-Jones - Tigers could dump him for poor behaviour
Majak
Wylie Buzza - delisted by the Pies

Yeah you might be on the mark with some of those names.

Is Mason Cox an option..maybe as part of a two way package deal?

I doubt it, I think we'd want someone cheaper, with a bit more appetite for the ruck and probably younger (which goes against McKernan)

Cox's contract is apparently backloaded. He'll be on $600k+ next year. Can't see us paying anywhere near that for him

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
