We can’t even attract a 32yo with a 3 year deal vs 2 from the cats???

it does fit the narrative that some people on here are finding hard to swallow.

Don’t listen to the haters @Dr evil, things change. I’m sure you’re aware of the trade that’s about to break. Actually I wouldn’t say break.....I’d say.....blown apart.

Rory Atkins to the Suns at $400000 and 3 years another winger move.

Think Andy will have his finger hovering over the 'delete post' button here for a while!

Keep posting evil doctor. Great that you can take it in your stride and not throw the toys out of the cot, unlike some others. Its certainly been a fun couple of days in this thread

Youll get more hits than miss, I reckon

4yrs*

At the end of the day player at club who came 15th decides to leave them, has offer from team that came 9th but signed for team that made the Grand Final.

Back to the drawing board for that wing spot

I stand corrected?

Honestly if we gave him a longer deal and he chose to run to an easy option in Geelong thinking he can sneak in another meaningless premiership, so be it. I wish him luck, and have zero interest in players like him.

Yep confirmed campaigner.

I like to set a good example for the more short tempered of us moon!

How many of you think the Jordan Lewis trade was a success? For mine, it was largely a waste of time. Anything he might have done for culture was countered by him doing all of [censored] all on the field for three years, and was even one of our worst in the 2018 finals series which was one of his selling points at time of trade.

Not upset about missing Smith, but that's simply untrue about Lewis. 3rd and 10th in the Bluey in 17 & 18, and was one of our best in the first 2 finals (with an all time shocker against the eagles in the prelim). I don't understand the hate on here.

At least give us a riddle.

@Dr evil won't be the first and last who gets it wrong. What I do hope is that it won't be the last that he posts info that he has.

You just keep feeding those Rumours doc.

Appreciate that dazzle. Apologies for the disappointment I’ve caused to any posters. its a strange time of the year

As to the Doctor: the issue I have is not that he passed on news that we were in the box seat for Smith, but that he passed on news that he'd already signed (the Doctor was adamant it had happened). If he's going to Geelong, clearly the Doctor's mail on Smith was incorrect.

This is what I was pointing out yesterday.

I don't understand many posters.

It's obvious to me that unless you've seen the signed contract with your own eyes, why on earth would one ever set themselves up in the way that @Dr evildid by making ultimatums?

@Dr evil deserves what has come on this site because of poor word choice.

Nothing more nothing less.

Hopefully a lesson learnt for the future pal.

Yep, I'm more interested in the guys with character who are ready for some pain, but also excited about what they can help build. A premiership with us would be wayyyyy more rewarding than having to deal with Scott and his merry band of circle jerks.

Apologies? Mate, you're not supposed to apologise when you get it wrong on Demonland. You should be making excuses and covering your tracks!

BTW, I knew you were wrong all along. Smithy told me last week

It was a rookie error by Evil to be so adamant re his mail.

Always leave yourself some wriggle room.

As for Geelong ?  Was it the oldest GF team in history ?  And they're just getting older with Higgins and Smith.  Somewhat baffling.

Oh how I'd love to beat them in a final again at the G in 2021 and watch Smith trudge off.

Consider the toys out of the cot moon. Speak to you in two weeks.

The club was bonkers for offering a 3 year contract to a 31 year old. surely the club has learnt through players like jetta and mcdonald that the end comes quickly. i'm stoked we didn't get Smith.

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
