Iā€™m wrapped we won and great to see Rivers & Kossi give a lot!

But can we stop doing stupid things! Kick out strategy, not selecting Lockhart to pick up opposing small forward! Weideman down, so why not move him for 10 minutes!

We have some top players, Gawn, Petracca, Oliver, May, Langdon and I think Viney is a fun if used the right way, so there is potential, but. Coaching has to improve

    Disagree with both of these comments bing.

    It was a simply ridiculous decision to drop him for preuss. The fact that was wet just amplified the stupidity of that decision.

    Not just becuase preuss is not a forward and is slow as wet week but alps becuase Pruess barely left inside 50 and brown gets on his bike and provides options and cover.

    That decision was big factor in our inability to stop them crossing and not being able to stop their chains of uncontested possessions.

    It was a nice win against a side with some class, but don't forget that they are a side that dropped their skipper and made 8 changes.  Some young players showed promise.

    I look forward to next week and the bradbury plan continuing

    I've said this in another thread, but I don't think Weid has played poorly at all, before tonight.

    Tonight I felt he was outpositioned and unable to work his way into the contest.

    However, we will go nowhere as a club without consistency forward of centre, and we can't rely on any two of Brown, Jackson and Weideman to do it. Weideman's got runs on the board and although he was poor tonight, he goes nowhere for mine.

    Yes for the wanting us to lose, but no for the selection comment.

    Tonight showed why the likes of Melksham and ANB should not be in the team. Its infuriating Melksham continues to get a game with zero defensive pressure all year. Not only that, he gives up goals through stupidity and lack of discipline. 

    I'll cop the losing comment. Won't cop we continue to gift Melksham a game week in, week out.

    I think I then asked you if you knew much about him as a kid, not about his footy. I said at the time that he could be the best of the 3 we got and pushed him on DL from that moment on. Yes he could be the best of the 3 and I am thrilled for him and the great game he played tonight. Pickett played his best game for us too and could have kicked 4.

    I'm talking solely about the losing comment Dazzle, all good re issues with selection. I actually don't mind ANB he applies pressure and prevents opposition just waltzing out

    Someone gave him sheet for being lumbering and slow.
    I pointed out he was quick enough to catch the bloke who also thought he was lumbering and slow.
    Credit where it was due.
    Never said he was a star and I'm certainly not on the selection committee.
    If I was, Jones would have retired 2years ago and Rivers would have had much more game time this year than he has.

    We cannot simply throw an 18 year in one of the most crucial game of the year straight into the side on the back of a 5 week lay off.

    Stick with Weideman,  he just needs to learn how to get himself out from this rut. Dropping him won't fix that. This is all part of his development into a good power forward.

Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturdayā€™s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon canā€™t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaideā€™s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the leagueā€™s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

    • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

      Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, theyā€™re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this weekā€™s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

    • REPORT: West Coast

      On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckmanā€™s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipperā€™s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.
