I’m wrapped we won and great to see Rivers & Kossi give a lot!

But can we stop doing stupid things! Kick out strategy, not selecting Lockhart to pick up opposing small forward! Weideman down, so why not move him for 10 minutes!

We have some top players, Gawn, Petracca, Oliver, May, Langdon and I think Viney is a fun if used the right way, so there is potential, but. Coaching has to improve

Should go and slap yourself for your comment re team selection wanting us to lose.

Rate you as a poster but that was poor

Only in hindsight.

Brown was poor against Swans

Disagree with both of these comments bing.

It was a simply ridiculous decision to drop him for preuss. The fact that was wet justĀ amplified the stupidity of that decision.

Not just becuase preuss is not a forward and is slow as wet weekĀ but alps becuase Pruess barely left inside 50 and brown gets on his bike and provides options and cover.

ThatĀ decision was big factor in our inability to stop them crossing and not being able to stop their chains of uncontested possessions.Ā

mind melting decision.Ā

So, tell me again, why did Melbourne have to play in Cairns the last two weeks? The Gabba is our ground!

Great! Team! Effort!

Three stand alone words, but combining them into a sentence sums up tonight's performance.Ā  Keep it up Dees!Ā  Ā

Bad week for Weed to play his third shocker in a row

It was a nice win against a side with some class, but don't forget that they are a side that dropped their skipper and made 8 changes.Ā  Some young players showed promise.

I look forward to next week and the bradbury plan continuing

Proud of the composure showed by the boys in the last 3 minutes. Better than what was going on in our lounge room.

And that 50m penalty for their first goal was a [censored] joke

Haha you got me before the ninja edit - didn't realise the post I quoted mentioned Jackson alreadyĀ

Brown is the rich man's TMac. Really hope both the Macs get traded to Geelong for pick 56 &57.Ā

Except for when we got belted by Port.

I've said this in another thread, but I don't think Weid has played poorly at all, before tonight.

Tonight I felt he was outpositioned and unable to work his way into the contest.

However, we will go nowhere as a club without consistency forward of centre, and we can't rely on any two of Brown, Jackson and Weideman to do it. Weideman's got runs on the board and although he was poor tonight, he goes nowhere for mine.

Yes for the wanting us to lose, but no for the selection comment.

Tonight showed why the likes of Melksham andĀ ANB should not be in the team. Its infuriating Melksham continues to get a game with zero defensive pressure all year. Not only that, he gives up goals through stupidity and lack of discipline.Ā

I'll cop the losing comment. Won't cop we continue to gift Melksham a game week in, week out.

Ā

I owe Oskar Baker an apology. He was really good tonight.

Two superb snaps from both sides of his body.

I recall being in Palm CoveĀ when we drafted Rivers and I started yelling in excitement, as he was the one I wanted for our last pick. People were staring at me.Ā
I think I then asked you if you knew much about him as a kid, not about his footy. I said at the time that he could be the best ofĀ the 3 we got and pushed him on DL from that moment on. Yes he could be the best ofĀ the 3 and I am thrilled for him and the great game he played tonight. Pickett played his best game for us too and could have kicked 4.

Yes great pick up, mate of mine works in development at East Freo, rates him highly

I think Lockhart comes back in next week. And possibly Sparrow!Ā

I'm talking solely about the losing comment Dazzle, all good re issues with selection. I actually don't mind ANB he applies pressure and prevents opposition just waltzing out

[Censored] me.

Preuss lays one tackle (after which he tried to kick a goal he had no ability to kick and missed entirely) and gets credit.

What is it about Demonland and Preuss?Ā

Ā
Someone gave him sheet for being lumbering and slow.
I pointed out he was quick enough to catch the bloke who also thought he was lumbering and slow.
Credit where it was due.
Never said he was a star and I'm certainly not on the selection committee.
If I was, Jones would have retired 2years ago and Rivers would have had much more game time this year than he has.

Fork me alright.

AFL [censored] up. Ā Send us after NT to Cairns to play 3 games in 9 days. Farrrrrkn ridiculousĀ

Yeah fair enough.

We cannot simply throw an 18 year in one of the most crucial game of the year straight into the side on the back of a 5 week lay off.

Stick with Weideman,Ā  he just needs to learn how to get himself out from this rut. Dropping him won't fix that. This is all part of his development into a good power forward.

The Dogs still have Freo next week, who are in some good formĀ

On an unrelated note, thatĀ McDonald’s adĀ with Christian Petracca wasĀ dreadful. Did he sign off on that???

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologistĀ  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmedĀ the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).Ā

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
