Didn't watch the GWS game last night but I have watched them several times.

In general the teams that are successful against them force the game to be played around the boundary line and deny room to the outside runners by blocking the corridor.

It makes for an ugly game but so be it.

Will Goodwin back his usual gameplan or go defensive.

His usual game plan?  we're 12/25 since our prelim. his usual game plan can go and get [censored].

I think they're as likely to come out as anyone. If they are to lose the next 2 and we are to win, every chance that percentage will take care of itself in the process.

Gee there is plenty of doom and gloom on this topic.

we are Dees supporters.  We are used to this crap!  We are used to living on eternal hope.  Lets brush it off and blindly move to the next possible hope we have...and you just never know....maybe one day..

As I see it, depending on results going our way, if we win both games we can finish somewhere between 6th and 10th.

its going to be wet in Brisbane again on Saturday so no need for dry weather players.  Out - Pruess, Melksham, Baker and ANB.  In - Lockhart, Harmes, Bennell, Sparrow

We do have a chance to still make the finals.

So as Dazzle did, I retract.

Go with the strongest team possible.

The periphery players will get the chop if the list numbers are reduced anyway.

Team

B               HORE           May           Rivers

HB            Hibbs           Lever          Salem

C               Langdon      Petracca   Tomlinson

HF             Smith         Weid          AVB

FOR           Pickett        Fritsch      Melksham

FOLL          Gawn          Viney        Oliver

IC             HARMES    Preuss    Hunt    Baker

Outs:      ANB,  Bedford

INS:       Hore, Harmes

Maybes:    Bennel for Melksham

Wow, playing again with a 5 day break!

Is that 4 games in 14 days, plus our travelling?

A good thing GWS arn't much better.

GWS has its first 4 day, after a couple of 5 day turnarounds, against us. With some travel from Adelaide.

I have some confidence of a win after reflection and GWS's loss.

Go Dees.

I'm a bit baffled by any selection that leaves both Pickett and Bedford in the side, especially in wet conditions. We saw how well they went in wet conditions on Monday night.

No, of course not. Please give me credit for having at least half a brain. I'd rank Spargo well ahead of the other two at the moment.

Pickett and Bedford are both young lads that need to learn senior footy, and no VFL this year which hurts development.

both are better options than most in our reserves, we went inside fifty 35 times.  and id say that 50% at least gave them no opportunity to apply pressure. if your basing selection on Mon night well there will be 14 changes.

Pickett will be good, he needs to be managed properly, its obvious his body isn't ready for full AFL seasons yet, but that comes down to coaching workloads.  Bedford needs a proper go, he has the skills and the pace. Spargo is an OK selection, but him and Hannon are both the same, they have one great game followed buy 2-3 poor ones. they get a 4-5 week crack, so why not Bedford instead?

sounds like a credible source - not sure what to make of that - the love affair was very brief if true

We're always bringing in an out fringe players that rarely impact the game because the midfield can't spread, man up and hit targets. The forward structure seems easily countered by opposition.

Until the coaches and midfield group become less predictable the same result will keep happening.

Can't believe after all the talk of Harleys build up as 2020 was just for prep fir 2021 that he would not be a rookie next year.

very disappointing if not and a waste of all they has gone on for 12 months training etc.

On AVB giving away free kicks... He is on 12 against, compared to 24 Cripps, 16 Fyfe,  19 Oliver, 17 Kosi, 15 Harmes, & 15 Petracca.

Wayne That's where figures lie!

AVB brave and all is only getting single digit possessions turning them oveR and with his Misapplied aggression is not really in the positive Figures.

Look at Clarry and  Trac and Their efforts and possessions and as they are in the play all day virtually it's ok as their figures are a plus by a mile.

Admittedly Harmes is fumbling and Free kicking his way through 2020 and Kosi  is having a dip but misapplied aggression and tackling should be trained out of him now and concentration on going the small things correctly at a slightly reduced speed would serve him better when without the ball.

Pure speculation, how would someone on St.Kilda fan site, know whether Bennell will get a contract for 2021 or not. I believe we will offer him a contract.

'Will Goodwin back his usual gameplan or go defensive?' Gee, D-J, what a question. To many of us DL enthusiasts, Goodwin has no gameplan - ever - other than to sit in the coaches box in silence with a bland expression on his face; furthermore, I am not sure if he is sure about 'defensive' because we lose so many games to opportunistic opposition forwards.

An ugly game it is likely to be - that's for sure!

Probably not no real base it appears.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
