Langdon has been consistently excellent.
The Wings on the MCG are such important areas

Probably one of the main reasons we've struggled at the G in recent times, lack of wingmen....well now along with Huuunt, he has helped make the G our own again..

He just doesn't stop. I wouldn't be surprised if he's still running up and down the wing now.

What a pick up, not many would have predicted his impact. So happy with him.

Absolutely. The Wing is such an attacking position, with the right kick.
Langers is also a long distance runner

Not the grace of Robbie Flower but just as effective.

This makes me wonder if you ever actually saw Flower play?

At least 50 games.

Wow.

I don’t recall seeing his first game but dozens of games he played during the dark days of royal blue. He was just about the only memorable thing about those days. I did see his last game as well in 1987 when he was our leading goal kicker. He could have played another two seasons as forward if he wanted too.

He reminds me of Christian Slater....no idea why.

Recruiting Langdon has changed the dynamic of this team.

He played fewer minutes on Sunday (by his standards)  at 90%.

I wondered if he was being rested to some degeree for the Tiges game once the game was over. He looked spent on the boundary near the end.

Only Lever and Tomlinson played 100% - mainly saving the game for us, but most others seemed to be rested a bit more than their normal TOG%'s. - forward planning

Does anyone remember how we were all screaming out for another decent winger in the 17/18 seasons?

They got in Tomlinson to do that role, didn't work, but now hes looking very settled down back where he belongs

We looked like we had miffed it, and then comes in this long haired bloke from the West and we could not have picked up a better Wingman

I love him

I was amazed to see Lingers sprint off for a spell on the bench halfway through the last. I thought he might need directions it had been that long

Langdon is one of the really good news stories this season. He is s beauty. We have needed a Langdon for years. A ball carrier that can run, break lines and kick a few goals. And he has that verve that inspires others. But we have other good stories. That is the difference this season.

I was very happy when we recruited Langdon and said on here he’d finish top 5 in our BnF before he even played a game for us. His 2019 at Freo was very underrated. His output was exactly the same as Brad Hill, if not slightly better. By trading Langdon in we got what we needed for our wing and paid far less than Saints did for Hill. He’s also a few years younger. Sure he’s not an elite kick, but he gets the job done more often than not. IMO he’s one of our best recruits in decades. He’ll own a wing at the MCG for the next 7-8 years.

I love Langdon. He’s so important to us structurally, helps us keep our shape and offer an outlet on the wing all day. It was unbelievable a few weeks back when he played 100% game time and clocked up 15kms! He must be a robot, his endurance is insane. He’s started hitting the scoreboard more this year too and really brings others into the game with good link up play. Definitely in All Australian contention this season.

He’s possibly the best value recruit in my lifetime if he keeps this form up.

The strange thing is there never seems to be anyone on him?....he just ghosts through the play from seemingly nowhere..

I think the jury is out as to whether or not hes better than Robbie and who cares anyway....but hes probably the best winger weve had since.

The jury is in and he's not.

Good call P2J. I thought that writing the post that they seemed to generally be loitering around half back, and at one stage 35 players were forward of center and Lever in our defensive zone maybe 50 m from any other player. Just enjoying the view I guess.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
