There is no point in trading brayshaw because we won't get any value at all for him, the absolute best a team would give for him is a second round pick, which especially in this year's draft doesn't have much currency to trade on for a need or will be good enough to pick a player that will have a big impact in the next few years. Trade Oliver or let Viney walk as a free agent for mine. If people want an outside classy player trading Brayshaw won't be enough to secure a player like that. Gotta give up value to get value. Brayshaw will also a better player by losing one of those 2 because he will actually get to play inside midfield.

Viney & Oliver won't be traded.

I think people need to read the full Lloyd quote “Trade Oliver or Brayshaw... to Essendon”.

The fool.

And if they do it a 2nd time they have to whip their own backs like that albino guy in the Da Vinci Code.

Folks think that 2018 was an aberration for Gus.  It wasn't!

He had an outstanding 2015; his first year, he played 21 games and just missed the top 10 in the b&f.  It was the year before Oliver arrived and Gus had a lot of midfield time.  Injured most of 2016/2017 and the whole club had a poor 2019.

He is just coming into his prime:  24 yo and approaching 100 games.  There would be many clubs who would take him and happily build their midfield around him.

As I said a few days ago it will be our loss if we trade him.

Echoing the thoughts of many Demonlanders, hopefully last night's game put paid to suggestions we trade Oliver.

Oliver would net us a first round pick + solid player. Brayshaw has about as much value as Nathan Jones atm.

no where near enough. The keys to improving isn't trading your best midfielder of the last 30 years.

It also makes little sense as he is our quickest midfielder also. Please up your medication before posting

I'm not saying we should trade Oliver, I'm just saying we won't get anything for Brayshaw if we get him. My opinion is we should let Viney walk then Brayshaw will be able to play inside mid and we get a good pick and cash to chase an outside classy player.

You don't let a player like Viney walk. Ludicrous suggestion

I don't think Praha was saying we should trade Oliver. He was only stating what they would be worth in a trade

Can we have both?  ?

Having posted previously about Oliver it’s great to admit you are wrong. His game against the crows was probably one of  his best since 2018 if not even longer. At last showed he can do more than just handball and kick anywhere, became a far more balanced player and showed can become truly elite. As with Brayshaw in the second half moved back to the centre where he should always play became a real force with glimpses of 2018. Both are must keep . Oliver on the ball and Bradshaw in the centre.

Who is this Bradshaw that keeps popping up?

As would every single other club.

Lloyd is saying that we need to balance the midfield. He isn't wrong.

We are super strong on the inside. On the outside we have Langdon, Tomlinson, vandenBerg, Jones and ANB.

Langdon was a second rounder for a reason.T Tomlinsonlooks like a mistake. I love VDB but he is playing that role because we require him to not because he is suited. Likewise Jones. ANB shouldn't get another game.

If we replaced these guys with two hard running players with decent pace we would balance our list without giving up to much they don't need to be A graders.

If Landgon could clean up his kicking a bit he would be very good.  His ball drop is so bad.    He always seems so close to doing something really good then kicks a shocker or fumbles the ball.    His speed and running ability have helped us but yeah, those foot skills....

Tomlinson Im not ready to give up on. Lets see how he goes down back if they keep him there.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
