Frawley likely to take weed (assuming  he plays deep) so is 3cm shorter.

Frost takes LJ (I hope Sicily does - but won't) and is 5cms shorter.

Jackson playing AFL footy in 2020 smacks of desperation. Only excuse is this is a Mickey Mouse season and there is no second-tier comp in which to play him.

So…probs a good decision in the end.

Not in the form he wasn't in it doesn't.

The term "dangerous forward" certainly hasn't reared it's head since 2018 with Tommy unfortunately (the 2019 match against Cartlon the exception).

Not saying he won't have his moments but so would anyone if you gave them as many games as Tommy's had without giving much of a yelp in most of them since his outlier season up forward.

I thought you could see in the first quarter last week before TMac got injured you could see him playing a high CHF role with the weed deeper, probably [censored] him better.

I like Tom as the high CHF role with Weids at FF, it seems more natural to both of them. Bit sad the TMac got his eye injury as I think it’ll take a couple of games for them to get gelling together properly. 

Would absolutely love to see Weids get 3+ goals this weekend and have a cracker.

Ok my concerns are twofold.

1 I would not have gone with a vastly inexperienced Jackson against the Hawks backline, and in so saying would much have prefered Smith Or Brown.

2 Given our tendency to bomb long then this will play right into Hawthorns hands rebounding out of defence. So you have an inexperienced Tall and then the probability that we will again go for a medium forward line, which has been shown to be a failure.

Does that make it clearer? IMV

Most teams play their first round picks. If GCS had their #1 pick available last week, it might have been a different outcome. As it was, it was a first gamer who gave us most trouble in their forward line. I am happy to see Jackson getting games and am confident that he will justify his inclusion (as has Pickett).

I don’t know that it smacks of desperation, our other most likely option would be to play Brown but remember that Max has been playing most of the game time in our matches and everything is pointing to the fixture being crammed in. The club could be trying to look after Max’s longevity in the season while also giving an opportunity to a player they obviously think very highly of. 

They may be backing Luke in to get some confidence and form so that he can be a semi-regular fixture in our line up. 

Brown’s worth is that he’s more experienced (and he would’ve been my personal choice) but I understand and am comfortable to a point with us giving Luke another crack at it.

Coaching staff had to adapt last week with Tmac going down. Kudos. They have been stubborn so far this year. I'm hoping they can feel confident enough to win this with the 22 selected.

I'm happy with the selection of Jackson now i think about it. I'm not sure the Carlton game was a realistic litmus test. Marvel is a tricky first test for a player, no crowd with the roof closed. It can be difficult to read the ball the first few times you play there. Also the 2nd half was putrid by all.

My take is that Jackson will play deep, Weideman will be the leading target. Jackson's height will worry them if he gets a run and jump around the goal square (Not a license to bomb). Both Weid and Jacko can ruck. Either of them will ruck forward of 75m leaving Maxy a kick behind. The fact that Weid and Jacko can Ruck around the ground also gives the coaches a choice of resting Maxy in the forward line, in the hole in defence or time on the bench. Gives us flexibility and Fritta a license to roam.

We should be fitter and smash them around the contest, if we can spread and kick the ball better again this week we win. Bennell, AVB, Hannan, Omac will be fitter and more confident after a few runs now. 

We turn it over like v Tigers/Cats we lose anyway so selections for mine are the right ones.

It makes those concerns clear.

The game this year is faster running game, Jackson is a better option than Brown and with the likelihood of a big block of games we need a legitimate second ruckman playing.

Brown's experience could be as good as notably humble reputation as a player - and that former quality would be useful to a young team.
