Pretty hard for them to shed light on the matter when the so called info is fake news, {as the trump would say}

Not fake, Jack told a senior member of the leadership group he was staying after seeing the contract. That person is taking Jack at his word. If Jack is sounding out other offers they would have to be much better as an RFA the club can match the offer and Geelong are not noted for over paying.

Who is the senior member of the leadership group. Since free agency began I don't think any club has matched an offer to keep  a player, why would you?

Didn’t Scully tell a dying Jim Stynes that he was staying?

But, I’m hearing you - JV has more character

If I divulge my source then they will never speak to me again. You only have to look who is in the leadership group to narrow the field. Clubs don’t match the offer because the RFA gets offered overs so and more than the Existing club is prepared to offer, the Crows matched the offer for Danger and then Geelong had to trade but Danger had compelling reasons to return to Geelong.

I know it is a ruthless business but if a leader ask you if you are staying and how are you going and you say unequivocally Yes I am red & blue through and through, then you have to take them at their word, don’t you. If they stay they haven’t breached that trust if they have been untruthful then it doesn’t matter because they will be somewhere else. Do you think Scully ever had any remorse for lying to Jim?

Viney’ should manager is on record as saying the original offer was too low but he has a contract now to consider that is commensurate with being a former leader and 3rd in the B&F. The ball is in Viney’s court. I have only reported what I have been told from someone I trust and the club has so far done the right thing by the club. Viney will be well compensated with a long contract. The delay suggests he is still thinking about it which is his perogative.

Demons insiders are now supremely confident the hard-nosed midfielder will remain as negotiations continue between his agent Tom Petroro and the club.

It’s understood Viney’s preference is to stay and Melbourne has raised its offer since initial

Surely you don’t expect people to say who has told them the information?

You shouldn’t have to divulge your source, keep posting.

Jack has advised the club he will sign the 4 year contract in front of him. The formalities will follow. The delay is around AFL confirmations on 2021 caps and list sizes.

You never know, someone might inadvertently slip up.

I also don't take for granted anyone's inside info on this site or any other internet site as it appears an awful lot do.

But yet you still find the need to reply,  and question their sources? If you didn't take it for granted, then why reply?

I mean its no different to you coming on here and rambling on how much insight you have into Paddy McCartin because you apparently you know the family well..

Up to the individual whether theu want to believe or not. Don't think they need to be criticised for it though DD.

If I took it for granted I wouldn't ask the question in the first place, I would just accept it.

Yeah I do know the family well, I have stated that before in some of the posts.

That's interesting considering we've been told he's signed a four year or five year deal already.

I don't really think he was ever going to leave, though.  I can understand his frustration at losing the captaincy, but he doesn't strike me as the type of bloke who would run off at the first sign of a challenge.

Four(?) years for Jack and another year for Jones....

I suppose it makes sense but I think both are a year too long.

When list sizes are reduced and salary caps are tight few players if any  IMO should get more than three years

Not quite sure how Jones managed that

On SEN about an hour ago:

The original offer for Viney was too low for the player and the counter offer to the club was too high.

Subsequent negotiations have arrived at an acceptable figure for both parties but they are waiting on cap sizes to be ratified by the AFL.

in further news Isaac Smith has expressed strong interest in the Dees’ offer and is weighing up his options

Wow ... there seem to be 2 camps.

One of my colleagues was in Jack's year level at Carey. Her comment was that he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed. Which is perhaps consistent with the comments that he's difficult to coach.

His attempts to barge through tackles look totally clueless. He invariably gets caught. (A bit like Jonesy before he stopped doing it ... after about 10 seasons !!)

And his refusal to kick on his right foot when that is clearly the best option hurt the side.

Actually there are 3 camps.I'm kinda in the middle. Don't really mind if he stays or goes.

couldn't be too much dimmer than gawn. personally i reckon viney is a pretty nice guy, despite his footy persona. dare i say it, a sensitive new age guy..

The suggestion is a playing coach type role. Sounds like a contrived attempt to get him to 300.

In normal circumstances I can see the emotional merit but unfortunately not now.

He is not a coaches [censored]

He has already coached bad habits into  ten years of teams

He should go gracefully

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
