How does the coaching staff justify Smith in the side?

Say the same about the staff.

God I hate the camera shots of that zombie in our coach’s box.

Spot on.  Some fool on here will blame Joel Smith for the smother goal, however, under no pressure Oliver handballs it on his shoelaces and the defensive forwards of Richmond thrive on that type of error.

I've been taking notice of Oliver,  and to a lesser extent Braysaw over the last few weeks.   Oli consistently flicks the ball off and when the ball leaves the area he stops.

When Oliver has to tackle, often the tackle slips off.  Allowing the opponent away.

So many of Oliver's physical efforts at opposition are impotent.

He has allowed his game and efforts since 2018 to just jog along, like he does.

He needs a big attitude change.

The bright side is that because our Essendon match was postponed this is not season ending.... yet

Yes it is DJ. Well if finals is our goal.

Simon has his bag packed but he won't be leaving the building.

Well we've done our good deed for the next team playing the tigs.

They are all the walking wounded.

Hibb, Tracc and Fritta can hold their heads up

Fritsch has been poor, cost us multiple times with poor disposal especially early

Smith qtr is the worst I have ever seen

Agree MFM. He's got huge tickets on himself and is just about our laziest player. He could be a much better footballer, but he chooses not to be.

Actually a lot to like about this game.

So much better than last week.

Because I knew we had lost at selection I've been able to enjoy the good parts of the game.

1-4... we are alive..just

1-5.... no chance

So obviously Smith out for omac next week

Weid and Jones in for Melksham and Vandenberg

Jones in for Viney

Brian friggin Taylor and the fake crowd’s over the top efforts to inject some excitement into this rubbish is just plain insulting.

I just cant believe Oliver..

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
