Yep good to see the club is getting sponsors in these difficult times.

All we need now is for the team to start WINNING. I won’t hold my breath.

Didn't know anything about this brand but Google tells me they're from the Adelaide Hills. It's quite impressive to grab a sponsor from under the noses of the two Adelaide-based clubs. Well done.

Just so I'm clear where the line is, pokies are out but alcohol and sports betting are okay? Good to know. Where do we stand on firearms and tobacco?

For what it's worth, I'm happy to take money wherever we can get it, so thanks to 78 Degrees.

I think the club has stated that it won't take sports betting (or any betting) sponsorship from hereon. I think they might get a payment from the Responsible Gambling Foundation as part of that decision.

And I'm very happy for the club not to have any firearms or tobacco sponsorship.

Good to see a new sponsor on board.
Anyone know anything about the extra Zurich sticker on the back of the weekend's guernsey?

Zurich chipping in some more $$$$?

Yep. Unlike many on here, I wouldn't have objected to betting, either.

Very comfortable with that position as well as being strongly against any firearms and tobacco sponsorship.

The difference is that firearms and tobacco lead more directly to illness/injury and death. Alcohol and betting sometimes do, but most times do not.

I also wouldn't be in favour of sponsorship by a legal brothel, either (or, obviously, any illegal ones.) That position is more about what image the club projects, rather than any moral objection I have to prostitution.

Usually I find we are on similar wavelengths on many topics, but today I'm not sure I understand the point you are making. But I'll leave it there as I don't think the rest of Demonland needs this conversation extended.

Not sure what you mean LDC, are you upset at us having a small joke at the chairman's expense?

just that i would say that alcohol causes as much if not more damage than smoking.  gambling i'm less knowledgeable in but i would consider it also quite damaging

i was surprised you could separate these two from the other two

i'm not claiming to be a wowser or anything, just that your comment struck a chord

OK, fair enough. I have a different view in that I can see how alcohol and gambling can be enjoyable and harmless, although I accept not for everybody, whereas I believe the bad far outweighs the good with respect to firearms and tobacco (apart from a few exceptions such as firearms used by law enforcement, farmers, military). And just for the record, I don't drink much, I don't gamble and just in case my wife reads this, I don't use brothels, either.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
