You may not change that one person's view but as kids grow up seeing their heroes calling out this behaviour then it changes their feeling towards racism.

The process is slow but look at the difference in attitudes compared with 30 years ago and the difference is stark. It's a lot like losing weight .... You don't notice the change as it happens because it happens slowly, far more slowly than you want, and there are hiccups along the way, but you just need to keep moving in the right direction day after day, year after year until you eventually end up in a better place.

The post isn't for jayden238, it's for the prevention of future jayden238s.

The solution to the issue is to have a proper verification process for social media accounts.

If these people had to use their real name we would hardly ever see these type of comments.

Absolutely not true if you have ever read what some people say on Facebook using their real name, photos and places of employment.

I sincerely wish that this thing would never happen, but are you better to focus on the 1% of small minded, miserable people who are seeking some attention and purpose in their pathetic lives, or on the 99% of people who try their best to do the right thing and get along with everyone?

I don't think that you'll ever change some people, so it is much better and healthier to find the positives where possible (unless laws are clearly being broken).

(That said, I avoid twitter and instagram like the plague, because these are where such people thrive.)

I understand what you're saying but just because it's only 1% (or whatever the figure might be) doesn't make it any less hurtful for those who are the victims of such abuse whether it's targetting race, religion, gender, disability, sexuality or anything else.

Precisely!  In schools, the bullies are probably just 1% of the student population, but they can, and do, destroy lives of those who are vulnerable to such treatment.  Stamp out the small fires before they have a chance to become something much bigger.

We disagree then mate. Yes we see very poor comments on socials by real accounts, but there is another level where we see outright racism, homophobia, sexism and more that people know is unacceptable so they use a fake account to post it.

That level of abuse will come down to hardly anything with genuine authentication required for setting up accounts I very firmly believe.

The casual racism level of abuse is a far more broad and complicated problem, but overt racism like this example is almost always from a fake account in all the examples I've seen.

You will never ever totally stamp out racism.
Are we gonna spend the rest of our lives highlighting the 1 moron who has a crack?
And if we were true to ourselves racism comes in all colours, not just whites.

Best just get over it and move on.

Twitter is the sewer of the internet, or at least one of them.

Lets say its a tunnel in the sewer network of the internet.

This was on instagram I believe.

I've always thought twitter was by far the worst, and probably still is, but at least we're seeing from them at a corporate level that they're making an effort finally to police/moderate their platform. Facebook (who also own instagram) are incredibly weak in this regard.

Small Children are not Racist, Society does that over time, depending on influences.
It’s a slow job as Axis has said

my Generation was a lot more Racist than todays 25 year olds and so on

it is exactly why Black Lives Matter now exists

But there are lots of people who still don’t like it, hopefully that number dwindles

It's terrible, but extremely difficult to stamp out.

'jaydeen238' is a troll account, no posts, not following anyone, and just followed by two other troll accounts.

He'll spend all day online being 'edgy; and offensive and it'd be his dream come true if one of his comments is picked up by mainstream media.  It puts everyone in an almost impossible position - calling him out, getting into and argument, or raising his profile is exactly what he wants you to do... so what can you do?

Yea I was going to ask that, bot/troll accounts are usually the ones with lots of numbers in the name and have zero posts/followers etc.

I jumped off social media (this doesn't count does it?!) Nov 2018. One of the best things I've done, it is all trash. There has to be more FB, twitter etc can do to stop this rubbish/people. Otherwise if people need to vote with there fingers and deactivate/close their accounts.

And sadly we will never. I live close to one of the areas and I am not the slightest bit surprised.

We’d be far better off as a society if we outlawed Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. They’ve all given scum bags, low life’s, racists etc too much of voice. I’m sorry that Nev has to put up with this sort of filth.

Should we do the same with bullying in schools?  Racism is a form of bullying and as such, must be stamped out. There's only one certainty, if we do nothing then nothing will change.

Sadly correct hardtack. I have a serious question. Why does the name of Eskimo Pie ice creams have to be changed?

Facebook, although not perfect by any means, at least allows you to control who gets to see your posts and comment on them.  Instagram and Twitter have no such controls (that I'm aware of) and so these trolls have an easy way in to spread their rubbish.

One thing I like about Facebook is that it's given me a way of connecting with friends I had lost contact with decades ago.  Renewing old friendships seems, to me at least, to be fairly important as we get older.

Not sure what you actually mean by this line. But it's not easy for anyone who is the subject of these sort of attacks to "just get over it and move on". And nor should they have to.

If you go back in history (and not that far), that was a common attitude to rape in many societies.

From Wikipedia: In Canada and Greenland, the term "Eskimo" is predominantly seen as offensive or "non-preferred", and has been widely replaced by the term "Inuit" or terms specific to a particular group or community.

Agree, there are a lot of good aspects. My wife has family scattered across the globe it works well for them.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
