Sadly I cannot tonight tU about to be locked up and with my Grand daughters tonight for the last time in 4 weeks and believe it or not they are more important to me than the MFC. I will listen later tonight or tomorrow. Yes I know what tonight is and I will be keen to see if hard questions are asked. I still stay with my statement that MFC members are too polite.

Good luck OD - enjoy your evening with the family. By the way - did you call in to SEN today? Breakfast Show?

Outstanding interview with G. Bartlett.  Thanks guys!

Is learning it's lessons, a lesson or a learning?

Hi John. As far as I'm aware the word learning is a single noun and can't be used in a plural sense. To me it sounds as silly as someone offering their thinkings on a subject instead of their thoughts.

This interview was prerecorded as is my preference with guests. the second part of the podcast where @Grapeviney , @george_on_the_outer & I will discuss the Geelong match.

Its been 3 weeks in a row now the MFC have kept teams under 10 goals.

is this now a trend?

Is this one obvious place we've improved from 2020?

Fantastic interview

I agree serious depth Club is in good hands - I was surprised how much detail he gave and he didn’t hide from the targets or make any excuses.

Might be I missed my five minutes of fame 3183 Dee. Just home from the visit, they don’t live far from me but might well be 50 km now.

Still getting over all the crying when it was leaving time. They spent a lot of time with us and both sides are not happy but would rather be alive for them in the future.

Very tough mate - my parents in England live next door to my sister and her 4 kids - they haven’t been able to give the kids a hug for about 3 months now. Crazy times - I wish you and your family all the very best.

Do we know how many listeners the interview had.

Live is hard judge exact numbers because people obviously filter in and out. There were anywhere between 50 & 70 at a time.

Most of our listeners end up coming from Apple Podcasts and Android Podcasting apps as well as those that stream from SoundCloud on the site. After a week or two I’ll have clearer numbers.

Thanks for organising the interview- great to hear progress on site near the G

Fairly clear it will not be an MCG sized oval if and when the Development near the G gets up.

Goodwin has a free pass for his contract term.

We need to be patient on all fronts .

Oh, yes, and that is a very good question, did I say I like being involved with the big end of town and chose the Dees as my vehicle to do just that, um, um, could you give us some money.

Very good interview well done to all involved. Sounds like Bartlett is committed to delivering us our 13th flag, and sounds like our home base is also a main objective which is brilliant. Go Dees

what planet are you on? none of this is true

great work @Demonland

Certainly exciting news about our HQ with social club within walking distance of the G, Bartlett sounded confident. Any guesses which areas?

Glad you raised this Rab, a jargon or buzzword whose repeated use has irritated listeners here. Annoyingly it appears to be spreading. According to discussion on English Language and Usage ,  "Actually, learnings sounds terrible to native English speakers. I never heard of it being used at all until I worked with people from India."  Perhaps propagators of its usage should be called Guru Bob or similar.

Its etymology, grammatically correct or otherwise, can be traced in print at least to Shakespeare. In  Cymbeline (1623) i. i. 43 The king..Puts to him all the Learnings that his time... as coach allows

What?!

I’m sorry that you are so cynical.

Excellent interview Guys. Thankyou

Glen answered most of what i wanted to hear and that is fine, he is a little bit more confident in the current gamestyle than i, so i will wait to see what transpires

I just dont want to watch 60 i50’s for 6-7 goals each week. It’s rubbish, and that gamestyle has been with us for quite a while.

but once again Great Interview

That's great detective work TC. My guess as the culprit would have been the USA and it's sports codes. However quite a few words that we consider to have been misspelt, mispronounced or bastardised by our american friends have actually been traced back to old english so I shouldn't be surprised really.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

In advance of Season 10, the AFL leadership has engaged in candid discussions with all clubs regarding strategies to boost attendance and expand fan bases. Concerningly, average attendances in 2024 were 2,660 fans per match, with the women’s game incurring an annual loss of approximately $50 million.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
