Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Intra-Club Game: Round 3

Also interesting to see Hunt feature heavily in the intra club goals highlight.  Thought he was good against Carlton, as he was up forward for a lot of last year as well.

Really like the attributes of Hunt as a forward - he leads up well, kicks for goal well and runs himself into good positions to crumb and/or receive easy opportunitist goals, which is exactly what you would want from a player of his attributes to be getting into good spots to capitalize on the easy, high percentage goals that are there for the taking rather than having to battle for every goal.  I do think his hardness and willingness to chase and harass and put on forward pressure are pretty good too.

Will be interesting to see what he can produce in a forward line packed with other talented small-mid sized players like Kosi, Bennell, Freitch and Hannan.

Yes but there are still times when a player marks outside fifty and kicks inside to a pack. That is when you expect the key forward to impact for a goal or two.

Let's face it....they're quickly becoming NQR

A goal or 2, but most likely to bring the ball to ground for small contested ball winners.   Not your jeffey type,  but more like mKozzy, Bennell, Jones, Viney, Lockhart, Spargo, Bedford, Chandler...

From the looks of the pictures on the club web site, it looks like the boys spent some time doing goal kicking practice out on the MCG.  Hoping that pays off.  In particular Freitch needs to improve on his Rd.2 output in this area.  We could have comfortably taken care of Carlton if he had kicked for goal more reliably.

I agree bad kicking is bad football, but if they kicked straight we’d have gone down by four goals. The yips aren’t the reason the game was so close

Melksham playing near his best is  vital to our forward line and hard to match up,  can pull down a mark one on one regularly.. However we have missed the presence Vanders the hard nosed bull that would liven up things out there and lead by example.

Right on Dr G missed Vanders in 2019 and remember like yesterday of 2018 finals how good he was playing with minimal games for the year..

We are a better side with an injury free Vanders.

Who was it that was saying back in February that AVB should be finished up because hes injured again.?   I can't remember who they were now.

An obvious with the game plan is we are not able to shut a side down when they kick back to back goals, All the other teams are aware of this weakness and exploit it. We keep hearing from Club and players we are as good as anyone at our best. Sometinmes that should mean halving a contest rather than going for broke every time.

Really?? Seem another 17 clubs have the same problem. Come back to me when you have the solution.

Premature?

No it isn’t. Our game yesterday did not go ahead, if that happens I expect the President of my Club to speak about it.

How many other Presidents of AFL Clubs would you expect to remain silent in the reverse situation?

It’s premature because the AFL don’t know what’s happening with the spread of CoVID at Essendon, and the consequences for the whole competition that will result from that. If the Dons can’t play for a fortnight (or longer) then their season is effectively over and all their games are forfeited, as to think the AFL will postpone finals so the Dons can play us, Carlton, Collingwood prior is a fantasy. In addition, if any Doubt of any Dons being contagious then their next two games will also go the way ours did, because to allow the Don to infect another team would kill the AFL in 2020.

so in the big picture context of what the AFL are trying to deal with, the MFC are wisely acting maturely aware of the challenges and recognising that in two weeks we’re likely to have both the Blues and Pies in a similar situation to us, at which point we won’t even have to say anything...

as they say in the hood “bbc”...

Not arguing, but just asking. Why does it have to be in public?

No public comment perpetuates the stereotype that we are a soft touch, a club that just gets pushed around by other clubs and the AFL. We have been severely disadvantages through no fault of our own, I would be wanting answers from the AFL as to how they propose to mitigate this and put it out for the public so they are held accountable for it

I am not arguing any of that

But i still want to hear it from the President. I don’t consider a public Statement or interview to be Grandstanding

We need to look after ourselves as best we can

I don't know if they do or they don't.

But I also know that standing up for our club doesn't have to be done in public view.

1 hour ago, Sir Why You Little said:

Yes it does. That is the point

Not enough is done on behalf of our club, in situations like this in Public.

SWYL's right,    For Our club,  in Our current  'MfcSS'   predicament.

The club needs not a self perception of polite representation,  to those who control our destiny.  Or to others who have a crack at us.  >  this IMO is linked to our typical conservative playing attitudes.   And easy going attitudes when getting beaten down in games.

This club,  after 50+ years of doldrums,  needs fighting words from our leaders,  to inspire more fight,  more fire from all of us.   To help to kill off that bloody 'MfcSS'  syndrome.

This polite tosh is a part of our problem.

That's is why eddie and kennett and leaders from other clubs do speak louder publicly, to inspire all of that flock.

It might not inspire Mcc folk,  might make them sit awkwardly,   but it will inspire those of us,  who crave an aggressive Mfc.

Not following you on the other 17 clubs GT.  We are the ones who cannot stop a run on. We got exposed on this as far back as the WC final. No need to be smart about it. How would I have the solution. I dont get paid hundreds of thousands, thats right hundreds of thousands of dollars to come up with a defensive game plan and state of mind.

I don’t agree that not grandstanding equates with taking the scraps.
AFL is trying to act responsibly re-CoVID in the public’s health interests and run a big business footy competition during a pandemic...

I sense swyls gripe isn't just about this instance,   but about our past 50 years of soft ineptitude from the top.

Exactly.

Playing a practice game on the ‘G was ok, but it is still dancing with your sister in terms of Match Fitness.
We should be playing Essendrug next.
The Fixture should be that flexible this year

We can recommend a refreshing Red label Smirnoff with a Black label Tarax on ice. Or for the more affluent Demonland posters 'Legend of the Kremlin' neat. All in moderation of course! ?

Every club bar Bris, Port and Ess (1 less game)  have had a run of 4 or more goals kicked against them this year. Its not a problem that Melbourne has on its own.

Bit different to today, isn't [censored].  now they spray the benches all the time with anti bacterial stuff, and wonder why our immune systems weaker.

We at Melbourne could do with more of those risk takers that have now grown.

In fact here are the stats for 2020.

I've kindly asked for stats for 2018 and 2019. Will report back if I get an answer.

It's US supporters,  and indirectly our players as well, which need that sub conscious lift for the spirits.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
