Instead of talking about Weiderman coming in for Jackson, let's talk about Weiderman in for TMac.

Let's talk about Weideman instead. You clearly have a sharp eye for detail.

Good to see truck has worked in his goal kicking.
Seemed to be more confident when kicking for goal which is good to see. (Kicking his first goal also helps his confidence)

I’m willing to give them at least another week or two given the circumstances, especially given the Eagles capitulated to the Suns which no one saw coming. Also seems rather pointless calling for the coach’s head given no club will be in a position to afford to sack a coach this year.

Is this result a fitness issue?

Its hard to believe not long ago Tmac was a contender for the Coleman.

Petracca solid and kicked true.

Lever and May need to pull up their socks.

Can we play one of these guys up forward?

The sad irony of this team is that we have a prodigious list of talent.

We have seen many of these players really shine.

That said how can we constantly explain the inconsistancy?

Is it possible T Mac cracked the sads that his bother got omitted and hence came in with a poor attitude?

This post is up there with the comment after round 1 that the players were "worried how they would get home from Perth"

Give me strength this club can be pathetic.

How about we demand consistent effort.

I can’t figure out if we are a good side coached poorly or just a poor side

either way, it’s seems 2018 was the exception, not a trend

I reckon TMac will come good. He has the turning circle of a truck right now for some reason. If he can get his body right, I still see him as a forward.

Actually i agree with that. Watch it this morning without the emotion live & they definitely lifted especially the last two to three minutes !

I've watched the last 2 minutes again. I haven't changed my opinion. Was shocking and very lucky to get away with it. Lever kicking to a two on one, where are the structures and players pushing across for the obvious down the line kick. Luckily, Carlton are just like us and don't know how to win.

Again, some perspective is needed. In this round alone we’ve seen

Are all of those clubs senior coaches [censored] like a Goody supposedly is?

Fair enough point

i was after 4 goals a quarter wins most matches in any competition

consistent effort The thing. But I do take your point. It’s a different year and we are not Man Friday !!

Pretty much nailed it with this post

Yes he did with the negative twins, junior Mac and Clint, the negative twins, even after 10 goal wins, which by the way a can't wait for, hope they are round the corner. It's a pattern for the round, most teams have gone a half of footy with ever few goals, actually 90 % of teams have.

If I had to choose between us bravely holding on or Carlton completely stuffing it up, I'd go with the latter.

Heaven knows, as an MFC supporter, I know what a side choking in the final two minutes looks like.

Let's put this round down as a preseason game with 4 points

I’m putting the entire season down as that.

What does it that tell you?

Sounds like a good way to keep our sanity.

Why do we have to be one of them?

In clutch moments Jayden Hunt always seems to step up.

Yesterday he was playing forward all day but runs past Brayshaw on the back flank when the game was in the balance received it and distributes it well. Then seconds later the ball is in our forward line and he is the one battling the contest.

He's previously kicked a winning goal from a set shot.

He's also created a contest, won the ball and kicked it to the player (I can't remember) who kicked the winning goal in another game.

Plus the torp after 3/4 time siren.

If anyone can remind me which games they all were I'll start a new thread

First game back, hope they can iron out the creases this week leading into Essendon. Carlton are probably kicking themselves they weren't switched on from the start.

Goodwin showed us that when things go bad he can do nothing.

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • PREGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne

After four weeks on the road the Demons make their long awaited return to the MCG next Sunday to play in a classic late season dead rubber against the North Melbourne Kangaroos. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
