My fingers are crossed! And let’s hope members are allowed to attend as well.

You would assume that only teams that haven't already played one of the WA teams would go to Perth should a hub be established there.

Of course, I'm assuming rational thought at AFL HQ. To be fair, I think Gil and his (shrunken) team have been quite rational and reasoned in the way they have approached the challenges of this particular year.

What happened to the Round 2 Crowd thread? Caroline Wilson stating fans will be allowed into the Gabba and Metricon this weekend.

Not sure where the round 2 crowds thread went, but just been announced GWS will be able to have fans at their game this weekend.

Don't know all the details yet.

Will still look deserted then.

Just announced, no crowds for QLD games this weekend.

If they can find any...

Don't be mean, I'm sure they'll both turn up.

BBO and I travelled to Canberra a few years ago to watch us play them. In front of us was a group of medicos and academics decked out in new GWS colours. They chatted all game about anything but the footy, despite winning comfortably. Half way though the last I made the comment out loud that I was looking forward to hearing them sing every word of the GWS song after the siren! Of course, they had no idea.

At least we know it wont be us.

Whatever makes the season a success though. AFL must be working 23 1/2 hrs a day to do all of this on-the-run organizing.

why... we've already done the trip

Can't be us, as we have already played West Coast in Perth in round 1. Lucky!

It will have to be Carlton, Dogs, St Kilda and Collingwood if I'm not mistaken, as they are the only 4 Vic clubs who aren't playing any of the WA teams in this next block (or played them in round 1).

Some of those teams play each other though within the first five rounds.

Logic says we won't be in the WA hub but they will still find a way...

Eddie's precious boys couldn't go, could they?

Simple solution, get rid of the social distancing laws.

if in 4 weeks time there is little to no community transmission following mass protests then governments will need to start reassessing current strategy. including easing rules around large gatherings.

im still confident tbh that we'll see a live match this year at some point. at worst it'll be 1/3 of tickets available (1 person every three seats).

1,000 allowed at the GWS game this week and just announced that around 2,200 (including private rooms) will be allowed in for the SA showdown too. We're definitely getting closer.

So it's BAU for GWS then.

Makes sense

No cost in loss of local support and means less if any travel next year.

Eddie knows that 2021 is where the money is.

Forget ET the news breaker. binman is the Nostradamus of  demonland. A pro pontificator.

Hubs: tick

Crowds at footy: tick

Omac in team: tick

Next predictions:

Harley Bennell: the best recruit (ie from another club) the MFC has had. Ever

Scoring: teams to be more attacking this year with a much greater emphasis on scoring

2,200 odd allowed in to the Showdown.

1,400 odd Port members will go in a ballot.

Should be first in best dressed rather than a ballot.

I might be shouted down, but what about auctioning tickets to the highest bidders? I don't usually support inequity like this, but the clubs need money more than usual and perhaps following a more mercenary route might be acceptable under current circumstances. I hasten to add I would not support such a strategy in more normal times.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
