Pearce and Downie out is not good. Why does my MFCSS surface when we are playing a shizen side. Good to see Mithen selected.

What happened to those two?

Our run of AFLW injuries is akin to what our men have endured in recent years.  Four ACLs is totally crap!

Downie out with illness (no alarm bells here. Salem is out with illness n I had a nasty cold earlier this week, so it’s fair to say theres a bit of it going round)

Loz Pearce has knee soreness. Not ideal, only just coming back from a pre-season knee op

Bit of a gamble plonking Perkins down FF and moving one of Zanker or Cordner down back.

Every time we get one player back we seem to lose two more.

Even with Downie out, I don't think we need to get too clever this week - just back our midfielders to win the ball in the middle and hold it in our front half for the majority of the game. Hopefully our defence barely sees the ball, so it doesn't matter who is down there.

We need to win and win big with Carlton and Fremantle both interstate to come in the next two weeks.

Is Perkins the one who played for Adelaide ?

Yes

Well done by the Dees to extend the lead into the breeze.

Melb. 3.0.18

WC 1.1.7

Goldrick has busted the lines so well in the first half

I'll always be nervous that we're about to inexplicably implode, but we definitely look like a much better side.

Several of our players are standing out by doing the things they do that standout, like Newman's speed, Daisy's calm, Mithen's burrowing, Paxman's slicing through the mess.

Even while one part of me is permanently nervous that it'll fall off, another part of me just keeps watching for that moment where we all click at the same time and just annihilate a despairing opponent, country footy style.

Taken full advantage, well done. Goldrick wants a goal, she’s so exciting.

Great to see Cunnigham gradually, gradually get more directly involved.  I'm one of many who just feel like she could be really potent.  Also good to see that she kept up the pressure efforts even when she was having a pretty poor start.

I think having Tex Perkins out there helps take the pressure off her.

That was a really good win. It was nice having it to watch on tv. Always good to hear the song sung after a win and good do see no gatorade being thrown over the 1st time winners.

Well we will take a 59 pooint win. I thaught the 1st half was as bad as we were against the saints. A little too much handball and some decision making was dreadful. We pulled our finger out after half time and played some decent footy. Paxman ( again ), Zanker and O'dea were really good. People go on about Goldrick because of her dash but she has to learn how to kick because she usually turns it over or makes a dumb handball after weaving through half a dozen players. She is exciting though and will get better.

Paxy all class again, clear bog for mine. Missed the first quarter but didnt see Daisy much, only 12 inside 50’s for eagles for their 1-1 score line, so the defence had an easier day today. Elise all class through the guts, tough as nails. Felt sorry for Lily not quite getting her first goal in AFLW, looked like one without goal line camera angles.

Important percentage today, great win to the la-dees, top of conf B with 214%!

Enjoyed the game. Not a fan of the conferences but the format will evolve. A 50 m penalty is a huge deal in the game

go dees

Awesome win Dees, will settle in later and watch the recorded game. Very handy % boost - now best in the competition ??

It is bit of a relief. We won well and got the % boost that we need.
Love Sarah Perkins - can mark and kick and contest.
Paxman is a class above and to paraphrase Demonblog, give Eden Zanker a proper full time men’s type training program and I’ll show you the most dominant female player in the game.
Need to win at least one of the next two games

Go Dees

Eden Zanker will be the best player in the league within 2 years.

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
