What’s the overall standard of matches like so far?

i know not all teams take it seriously, but it is vital for us. We have to wipe 2019 off the table.
Beat Whorethorn next week and a trip to Perth becomes a challenge, not an evil nightmare

What's more, we have to start the season at full fitness to try to get the jump on WCE and GWS, who have had less preparation time and, in WC's case, injuries to key players over the preseason.  All of the top 4 from 2018 started sluggishly in 2019, hopefully we can take advantage of playing two very good teams early, whilst they're a few weeks off their best football.

For a chronic pessimist and whinger you have a charming vein of optimism. Congratulations.

Seriously, it's a compliment.

I am only pessimistic when the Club is a disgrace to itself.
sadly that has been often, I actually get more angry when supporters get stuck into me for it!!!

I want to win Finals, always have

I think the Club is serious this year

Last year may be a positive force that has woken The Demon

compliment accepted :)

The Freo v Blues game should have been scheduled in an adults only time slot. Gerard Healy has labelled the first half as a masterclass in butchering. Inexcusable misses from 15m out directly in front, can’t believe I sat through that.

Thanks. I taped the game last night. Will now delete.

The result of the day was the Suns’ big win over the Crows which saw them catapult to the head of the JLT/Marsh Community Series ladder. The Demons now can’t win the competition.

^ If the Suns keep this up someone else will own the wooden spoon.  Early contenders:  Carlton, Adelaide or even Sydney...?

Carlton will improve this year LH but it could easily be one of the other two. My guess the Crows but that maybe because I hate them with rare intensidy.

Throw Freo in there as well. Swans, Suns, Crows, Blues, Dockers and Hawks would be my tip for bottom 6, Can raffle the order. In saying that, they are all more than capable of challenging teams on their day.

Swans seem to have embraced the “we are in a rebuild” mentality which should lock them in for close to the wooden spoon. Carlton looked truly awful against Freo but were missing a few and will get better throughout the year.

That’s probably why they were in last years GF

Anyone see the incident between J Cameron and Lambert today? Lambert was left concussed after he copped a knee to the head. Some debate whether it was intentional or accidental.

Contact from his knee to the Richmond player - definitely intentional.

Cameron wanting to make contact with his head - doubtful.

Carlton are a one man team. If they show as little as they have in the preseason then they’re in a spot of bother.

Yep.  And it's glorious.

Not to mention that two of their other better players in Murphy and Simpson are in twilight of their careers as well.  Happy for them to be a bottom four team for the next decade.

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
