Listening to the bloke from the government in this video, the first one, there was a big emphasis on the natural environment and the keeping of trees. I’ll throw a really obscure idea out. Make a sustainable wood stand, let the trees come up out of seating. Get a small facility in there, that looks like it’s part of the natural landscape. Make it a landmark eco friendly, energy generating, solar powered boutique standout that can host AFLW and we might get some funding.

just trying to think outside the box

Like it mate. Definitely feels like any kind of community 'angle' we can put forward the better, and will definitely help with the amount of funding or getting certain plans approved, but I honestly think our biggest obstacle is just the land itself. Me personally, I'd much rather have us build something amazing further out - maybe out in an area like Kew, Camberwell, out to Burwood, Ashwood etc - than squeeze some half baked facilities into a little corner off Gosch's.

We are so far behind the competition & the Afl needs to address this gap with crappy stadium deals, not sure how state gvt can support 1 team with 142m and the MFC can’t even get a training facility commitment

I agree the Geelong stuff is ridiculous, but can you tell me exactly which proposals we've taken to the state government and had turned down?

Why should the fixture be compromised because Geelong can't use their ground in the 1st half of the year? When the Suns couldn't play home games due to the Commonwealth Games a couple of years back they had to play a home game in Fremantle yet Geelong wants 9 games at KP on the 2nd half of the season? Get stuffed.

And they will get what they want.

Hi Pickett. This didn't seem to be a problem when it came to chopping down a number of mature elm trees on St Kilda Road, some of which were over 100 years old, to build the new Anzac underground station. Apparently 90 trees are for the chop.

State gvt funding of to other clubs

Cats 142mill

Bulldogs $77mill

Tigers $35mil

MFC 3 mill for a paddock increase in size.. go figure

These figures look politically skewed!!

Labor's strongholds ... perhaps the MFC is too 'posh' for the state govt

I have been posting that for years. No votes in a silver tail club.

Seeing what Carlton have built at Princes’ Park for ‘the home of AFLW’ is ridiculous.

All the money has gone to Carlton and there hasn’t been a single upgrade for the fans. The place is even more decrepit than it was in the 90’s.

The way for us to get anything built is to fabricated a politically beneficial cause. The best part of it is it doesn’t even have to be true!

Bulldogs 70 mill home ground dees premiership

Don’t disagree & no guarantee of success as Pies have the best for last 20years & yielded 1flag, which makes our flag even more great considering having to split it  between  Casey… But can’t fall behind the rest as every 1% counts to developing elite players plus retaining/attracting

Its ironic that we don't have a training ground of our own, our awesome W team makes the grand final and has to play it at...Brisbane's new training ground.

It was just $2 mil through MOPT for Gosch's actually. MFC Club 11 donors put in $500k and the AFL $500k.

interesting to note that Brisbane's new training facilities are at Springfield a suburb of Ipswich.

Probably about the same distance as MCG to  Casey from the gabba to Springfield

PS I take that back it's only 35km from Brisbane CBD to Springfield but still a decent commute

That's if you go at 3 in the morning. It's a [censored] place to get to and hot as hell out there.

Exactly which proposals have they put fwd??? The latest one which Pert discussed was a facility to be built next Josh’s Paddock close to AAMI Park ..  We continue to go around in circles and would have thought the calibre of Jackson & Pert would have nailed it!

true

at least Casey is against the traffic and driving time could be similar.

The point is that you don't need a CBD training ground. It merely needs space.

Hell if we'd acted 30 odd years ago we might have had a chunk of Docklands or even Southbank pre casino days. (Admittedly that disappeared mid '80's)

Time to stop mucking around and bite the bullet. If it is to be Casey let's put full efforts into that spot. Anyone can see by a simple visit to the growing suburb of Clyde that the surrounding land even at Casey is disappearing

So you're saying here you know we went the government with an official plan drawn up for that little triangle next to Gosch's and the government said no? Can you tell me exactly where you got that information? That seems new.

Just noticed Andrews has promised $6mill to redevelop Box Hill City oval.

I love the old ground but another $6 mill to the Hawks seems a bit much.

This is a club that was late to the party and not a bit interested in the women's game but reaps the rewards now.

Because they are not trying to achieve the impossible.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
