We have also paid for Scotland to host the commonwealth games add that to the list.

Did you honestly think we were going to put our hands in our pocket and stump up for them, DVI?

No…….. we should never have bid for them in the first place. Millions wasted….again.

We will need to rely on self funding and the federal government for a training base. Victoria is broke.

When I said we I meant Scotland. I appear to be the resident ‘sweaty’ on here.

It’s Ok Rab, you’re a good gers man. Scotland played it well, let’s be honest the Scots don’t like spending money. Good on them.

If you are talking about the salary cap, that was first introduced in 1987.

But, like so many 'rules' in AFL, only selectively enforced.

Most definitely.

The 70s to 90s of the last century, most definitely. Last 20 odd years, not really.

Passing through Caulfield on the train now, the Dees really have to make this work. Such a great location for many reasons. The alternative will be Casey as a permanent home!

Well yes, since 2000 The CFC have had to abide by a set of rules.
My Lawyer worked for Carlton in Perth during the 80’s, signed up Hunter, Doritich & a few more

He has told me many stories about those days, it was all about Ca$h, even after the AFL was formed

While the State Government has issues with its budget I would expect they will contribute a comparable level of funding to what they do for other Victorian based teams. Once the feasibility study is complete I'd expect the State Government to set aside funding in its budget to be released on the business case being approved.

What about Casey Slthera Reptile park?? Oh yeah...... like thst a lot!🤩

Well we did have two PMs who were passionate Carlton fans, Menzies & Fraser. But CFC was always a broad church that attracted quite disparate folk, from Prime Ministers, judges, academics to local tradesmen to assorted immigrant groups that passed through Carlton to the residents in the local Housing Commission blocks on upper Lygon etc ...

Anyways, I am detracting from this thread. I am a big fan of this Caulfield RC push and MFC should persist with it as better sites won't easily come up again. Just look at how the Hawks are planning on Dingley and the Bombers are now in Tullamarine. Caulfield is prime real estate in comparison.

Of course it is and that is the reason that it has become very difficult to move any faster than a snail pace. There are too many vested interested parties in the area.

I am not really critical of the speed, its always going to take time with a location like that, interests of MRC, the Trust, local government, State government and assorted community groups.

You are talking about a future conservative government. Won't happen this decade.

Did he have someone to blow the horn when Carlton kicked a goal?

17 Carlton Premiership trophies:

1906, 1907, 1908, 1914, 1915, 1938, 1945, 1947, 1968, 1970, 1972, 1979, 1981, 1982, 1987, 1995.

They are on display in the foyer of the club at Princes Park. Also has some displays of club history, old guernseys from different eras etc. There is a cafe there as well (1864 Cafe). It is quite well done 👌

I'm counting 16 there.....

The fight is over the mounting yard and the grandstand ( demolish or not).  It has nothing to do with the stables where we want to go.

it's also about the sell off of sandown, and this would impact the money available for caulfield development, which in turn could impact the areas we are interested in
