I know Burgess has a PhD but he’s not a ‘Doctor Doctor’, I think some posters are getting confused.

No but Max might be able to, as he is a good palmer of the ball.

We have absolutely nothing to lose and so much to gain by picking him up.

Imagine if Darren Burgess our fitness guru gets him right.. Not only will he be EXACTLY what we need. But we could be a team that talented players with niggling injuries turn to as an opportunity to get themselves right. At the moment, blokes like Jager Omeara, Scully, Paton are turning to Hawks for that reason.

Doesn't work out? Oh well, they are the expectations from the whole football world anyway.

You have a lot to lose when you bring in a player who causes off field issues and brings other players around him down.

Dusty was always a better player then both scully and trengove, all Scilly has is his running power Trengove was alway a 1, dimensional player, the only reason he went at 3 is because of his family background

Mr Hindsight is that you.

Scully was the number 1 pick by a mile in his draft year and every team would have taken him at no.1.

As for Dusty even Richmond put him on the trade table.

That's not true Richmond never put Dusty on the trade table, Dusty's manager shopped Dusty around, he even invited himself to have a look around at GWS training Base, then  Caroline Wilson wrote a couple of bad articles about Dusty and all of a sudden nobody wanted him.

I said it earlier in this thread but I'll say it again. The supplemental list period allows clubs to have guys train with them before officially being listed. That's the move for Bennell. If his body holds up all summer and he's ready to play by March that's when you give him a contract.

Spot on, or even make him go back to VFL/SANFL/WAFL level and earn it for 6 months then come through in the mid-season draft.

he could join the lost boys club with Vanders, KK, JSmith, Walker, T Smith etc

Love it... where's Wendy when we need her.

Sorry to intrude, interesting to hear Tim Watson this morning say the CEOs have reportedly voted in the last couple of days for the mid-season draft to be scrapped. No reasons given as yet, possibly something to do with TPP.

Might as well face it you’re addicted to palm!

I was feed information 3 weeks ago that Melbourne officials had been in touch with Bennell and his management...

Calf injury will be a problem of the past as they found something that’s been missed previously...

Now all this is starting to come to light!.. I can confirm we are the club in question!..

From everything I’m heard with the calf problem solved... it’s a risk worth taking..

I have a source within the afl media circles... I’ve seen certain messages...

Just remember my post when it comes out that we are the club in question...

AFL media circles! It must be true, they never lie, speculate or embellish. I thought you had real info.

I wonder how many people who support us getting bennell supported us getting rid of Watts

On the surface I don't like this unless we give up peanuts for him and I don't mean a late draft pick I mean actual peanuts.

Trading in injury prone players is our specialty so he'll fit right at home for a year before he is delisted or retires.

Of course I'll be tickled pink if I'm wrong but I'm not particularly ticklish.

Ive known this source for 15 years... I was told to keep it on the down low until information  surfaced...

Time will prove this information correct...

Demonland is probably the only place anyone actually cares really...

cant do it on Facebook, people know me and know who my source is... and that would bad for all involved..

the one part I don’t like is how his manager has come out and said this... obviously they want more clubs than just Melbourne to be interested..

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
