I got my pack in WA on Monday. Pleased that it was free of useless junk. As for the scarf I have concerns that if we bomb out of the finals race by round 6 it might be a danger in the hands of depressed supporters. A baseball cap or beanie  would have been a wiser gift.

Got my ankle biter's today. Full of plastic crap that will go unused. Another rubbish backpack and toy footy. Reminds me of the primary school 30cm ruler collection at home.

My only gripe is how small the backpack is, I’ve had to cut the legs and arms of his favourite Dees teddy just so I can fit it in the backpack. Not sure if he had tears of joy or not streaming down his face as I put the scissors away.

Do we still get our car sticker, with our memberships?

I didn’t get any stickers this year. Can’t understand why as these are advertising for the club and I have a new sticker less car as well.

As per normal, my membership pack on my dedicated Demon payment plan failed to reach WA prior to Christmas.
Every [censored] year.

I work for a rather large online distribution centre and we had to stop sending with Aus Post. They were so far behind, some items we sent out on the 2nd of December still hadn't made it to their destination in QLD and WA by the 23rd.

I'm surprised how few on here seem to have opted for digital! Surely this would save the club a fair bit of coin.

In saying that my digital membership hasn't arrived and I've been on direct debit for about 10 plus years.

Any other digital opters received theirs?

Because the chances of it working smoothly for every game are almost nil.
Especially if you're trying to get young kids through the gates at the same time

The Jag will just have to go without then!

JAG!!! No way I am driving a jag, apologies to Youngwilliam but I am talking about a real car that needs an MFC sticker.

That car is too nice for a MFC sticker Earl.

You need a rust bucket like Biffen's for stickers. His is literally held together by them!

We both got stickers in our packs.

Hi there HB. After reading this thread I've just this minute gone onto the club app on my phone and activated my tridents membership ticket. When tapping on each home game it says "ticket will be ready in xx days" and has a countdown to the day of that match so I'm assuming that the "ticket" will only appear on the day of that game. Curiously however the compensation game against Hawthorn in round 11 (for playing in Alice Springs) says there is no ticket available. Likewise there is no mention of any away games in Melbourne which my ticket should include.

Hopefully the club or ticketmaster haven't ballsed this up but I'll have to wait until after the new year before I can contact the club about it.

My scarf always ends up in the bin. It survived until round three last season.

I thought you would have a ritualistic burning eaxh year,  a Melbourne scaef suttee, after all it has been hanging around your neck long enough with little effect.

Renewed on 10th December, still nothing in the mail. I’m in no mad rush but that seems lengthy for a Melbourne metro mailout..

I renewed on the 8th December and was told at the time that they had finished their pre-Christmas mail-outs so I don't think there's cause for concern.

A comment about the "choose the $25 Demon shop option instead of the scarf", a friend of mine did that last year, then went to the shop choose some minor items, badge, stickers, cup etc and handed her $25 voucher and was told she couldn't use it because the $25 could only come off 1 item of $25 or more.

She put all the little stuff  BACK and walked out.

That's terrible to hear.

Shocking if this is the case.

It's ok DC there is two months to go.

For anyone with a home and away game digital membership that is interested, I spoke to the club this week and they have advised that all of the away matches we play in Melbourne will be uploaded to the app at a later date. Probably by the end of January. The compensation home game (for playing up in the Alice) has yet to be negotiated and there are three or four clubs we are currently still in discussions with about this. Once confirmed this will also be added to the digital membership along with those away games. Same goes for the pre season game at Casey Fields.

Does anyone here know what the club gives up, or provides to other clubs as compensation for playing in AS?

(Hopefully not a ritualistic spanking or similar.) Serious replies preferred.

Other than home ground advantage I don't think we'd be giving anything up nor the competing team gaining anything. To the best of my knowledge we've only ever played WA or SA sides there so they are travelling anyway and get to play on a dry ground in warm conditions instead of Melbourne in the middle of winter. They (and we) also get featured in a prime time free to air game.

Sorry, RDN but you misunderstood my question. I am wondering what if anything we give to the home club in our Melbourne 'return game' in order for our members to have free entry because they can't get to the AS game?

After all whoever the 'return game' home team is, say this year it's Hawthorn, they are losing when our members are given free entry to their home game. What does Melbourne do to compensate the Hawks in that case?

Ah, I see what you mean now PM. Not sure. Perhaps it's an agreement to repay the favour at some point. As Hawthorn also play 'home' games in Launceston that would make sense. To counteract that theory however we've recently played Carlton at the G in this game who have no need to compensate their own fans so it's an interesting question. The Blues seem keen to move home games from Docklands to Jolimont where possible so perhaps the AFL got involved and said you can play Melbourne there as your home game as long as MFC fans gain free entry. Overall it might still be a better deal for them financially all things considered.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
