Bare bones Membership came in the mail today. Cut backs because of 2019. I will return to full Membership/MCC once the club shows some serious fight...

My membership was waiting when I returned to The Manor this evening.

I see what @Lucifer's Hero meant by shrinking contents.

Not only was the calendar AWOL but also the plastic pocket to keep my card in was  nowhere to be found.

Now that is tight !!!!!!

Interesting LH that the MFC may well have the oldest membership base so a move to digital may well annoy a higher percentage of members than a lot of other clubs. The only things I will miss is the calendar and the membership card. I am not into digital entry on my phone. But as they say "there is nothing more constant than change"

Agreed. This digital business is way too technical for me.

WHAT??? No lanyard? Bloody hell that is tight. Those things are damn useful.

First world problems.

Should be just the card and a letter.

The rest is just rubbish IMO.

A rather cynical view there Mr Shadow.

Indeed od.

Got mine today. Happy with the pared back contents. Don't need the magnet fixture. Hopefully next year they get rid of that

However, the most disturbing part is that I could not get a seat away from @Bitter but optimistic, so will have to put up with his slobbering, foul mouthed rants again in 2020

My scarf always ends up in the bin. It survived until round three last season.

Is that tongue-in-cheek?

If not, tick one of the other options instead of the scarf: $25 Demon Shop voucher or Donate it back to the club.

I get it back out after I’ve cooled down.

I chose the hard card option this year for both my son (5 yo) and myself. Felt there was something special about a dad and his son getting all decked out in our Demons gear, membership card around our neck, scanning it as we walk in to the MCG.

We do live in a digital world, but because I chose the sentimental option, we miss out on the couple of free tickets (which would've covered my non-Demon daughter and wife for the one or two trips to the 'G as a family. Fortunately I can cover their entry, but I'm sure some struggle.

"Slobbering, foul mouthed rants" that's a valuable ability to have and will provide a distraction in the 10 minute break at half time.

Does anyone know if the international digital membership includes live streaming or you have to buy the add on? Looking at my options with an overseas posting this next year.

Got mine in Canberra.

I called the membership department re the loss of the 2 free tickets option as I have Collingwood supporting family and we go to those games.  They offered to have 2 available for us at the time.  So if you choose a game I would think the club will make them available for your family.

Just can't see what the club achieved by removing the option.  It is not as if our Home games are filled to capacity.  The free passes are GA only so we still need to buy reserved seats or pay for their entry to the Redlegs guest area.

...if anything it makes it harder to invite a friend (and potential demon fan/member) to a game they wouldn't otherwise go to.

Big Mac

Check your emails...my watch afl voucher code appeared today. Signed up for international digital last monday.

Cheers

There was also no larger plastic ziplock bag holding all the contents together. Instead, the membership package came in a cardboard envelope that opened up into a letter. I have made good use of the ziplock bag in the past, but must admit that reducing the total amount of plastic being used is a good idea.

Much cheaper packaging, Only one sticker and not even a raincoat for the membership card. So who is our replacement home game against. Used to have that on the card as well?

I was thinking they've cut down significantly on the use of plastic in the packaging, which I applaud.

No plastic sleeve or envelop, which is great as neither are necessary and are just single use plastic crap contributing to more and more landfill. Most people would have about 8 of those plastic card sleeves they can re-use anyway.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons have the Bye next week but then are on the road once again when they come up against the Gold Coast Suns on the Gold Coast in what could be a last ditch effort to salvage their season. Who comes in and who comes out?

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
