Yokozuna has posted good info before. Patience required.

No mate, if you know me or have read any of my posts in the past, I am not one to make up stuff, and I am also not one to reply 1000 times to every topic. I actually take offence to some of you saying I am talking crap or making it up.

I know what I know, and just because I won’t say the actual name yet, your think I am lying.

Show some patience. It may not pan out, but we are trying to get someone, as I have said already.

Good stuff Yoko. Without saying a name, you heard whether it’s progressed at all?

Asked for more info, was told they are still trying, but it comes down to a waiting game, as so many trades are being held up and the likelihood of this one is dependent on others moving first.

also didn’t rule out speaking to other taller forwards, but unsure if they are really serious about getting one unless it is the one they want (possibly not interested in a short term solution).

Neither should they be. If it's the strategy, I completely agree with it. If we can't get the player we want, we simply build our system around the players we have.

Happy with that - not sure how much benefit we derive from a JJ or Hawkins who won’t be around for more than 2 seasons.

Thanks for the update Yoko - appreciate it!

If it were Buddy and another first rounder with Sydney paying half his wages, I'd definitely go there. (yes, yes, I know, Victorian-based player)

Ex-gun key forward Taylor Walker for a 3rd rounder.

I apologies for what i said.

After yesterday seems like we are done with the trade, so it didn't seem we were even in the mix for anyone else this trade period.

Are we going to take Serong at 3 and then a forward at 26? There are at least 3 possible choices at 26: Miles Bergman, Cameron Taheny or Dylan Williams. Any thoughts from others?

Just like to back up Yokozuna, I was told a couple of things late yesterday. One I have a friend who has a mate who works at the club and two we are definitely trying to bring in a forward. No mention of names but we are definitely trying for one.

I can also confirm that I believe make no mistake we will get a player to the club who can play as a forward. #ETthetradebreaker.

Josh Schache?

The suspense is killing me. Can we have another clue please? Preferably something like the amount of behinds he kicked this year.

I am happy to believe all Dees gossip at this time of year, as it makes it interesting and enjoyable to log on to DL each time, hoping for some good news on a new player.

If it doesn't come off, no biggie.

As long as posters aren't lying and I believe you aren't, then it is great to get bits of news on our club.

Keep up the posting and when you can, throw out another hint.

Not sure if this has been posted, but Mahoney virtually ruled out any small forward trades and suggested that could be a draft scenario.

So I think if he is correct, we won't be drafting a big boy with our first pick.

I’ll narrow down to who I’d be excited about (and those which are unrealistic ie Daniher, Lynch and Reiwoldt) from the previous list:

  • Josh 'Basil' Bruce
  • Jack 'Basil' Gunstan
  • Harry 'Basil' McKay
  • Josh 'Basil' Schache
  • Charlie 'Basil' Curnow
  • Ethan 'Basil' Tremblay'
  • Ben 'Basil' Brown
  • Tim 'Basil' Membrey
  • Esava 'Basil' Ratugolea

Gunston, McKay, Curnow, Brown and Ratugolea are IMO no chance at all.

Tremblay is refusing to leave WA where he is a G-D.

Bruce appears to have committed to the Dogs, though could be a chance late if a deal can't be done.

Membrey won't go if Bruce is gone.

That leaves Schache on your list, who we could have had a couple of years ago.

McKay's twin brother at North could be a chance, but he isn't setting the world on fire and has played mainly in defence.

I think our key forward if we have one in sight, is not on this list.

If it involved our pick 3 I could see McKay and Ratugolea potentially being available (Cats and Blues have both been asking about pick 3).

Those 2 won't be moving, they are the futures of their clubs.

I just can’t t see McKay leaving Carlton and Geelong need to retain young talent, not trade it away.

Very very very rarely look on here these days... but all of this reminds me of 'Grand New Flag'.  Not getting my hopes up.

That guy's a hack. Couldn't mark the ball if it was a balloon.

  • PREVIEW: Sydney

The two teams competing at the MCG on Sunday afternoon have each traversed a long and arduous path since their previous encounter on a sweltering March evening in Sydney a season and a half ago. Both experienced periods of success at various times last year. The Demons ran out of steam in midseason while the Swans went on to narrowly miss the ultimate prize in the sport. Now, they find themselves outside of finals contention as the season approaches the halfway mark. The winner this week will remain in contact with the leading pack, while the loser may well find itself on a precipice, staring into the abyss. The current season has presented numerous challenges for most clubs, particularly those positioned in the middle tier. The Essendon experience in suffering a significant 91-point loss to the Bulldogs, just one week after defeating the Swans, may not be typical, but it illustrates the unpredictability of outcomes under the league’s present set up.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
