So far it's looked like one of the poorer top 5 drafts I can remember. Like his brother, kicking is a major issue.

How is this year's looking?

Gaff’s 27 now and on a decent contract that probably gets extended at a new club. After watching him this year I’m not convinced he’s a big value player anymore.

Its not part of the Eagles game plan but he doesn’t really break lines on the wing anymore so they’ve moved him inside where he provides spread and a handball option to their stronger mids. His kicking is reasonably reliable but not as damaging as it was or was meant to be.

I’d want a lot back with him to include pick 3.

quite a good song by a great band off a cracker of an album.

Cerra and 26 for 3???

As good as Gaff is, it's worth remembering he will be approaching 28 when 2020 season starts. We paid 6 for May/KK, and May was 27 round 1, 2019. Different type of players, I know

If take Brayshaw over Gaff.

One’s got 5 year of stardom left.

The other will be an absolute star in a couple of years for 5-10 years.

Anyone who’s undecided about Brayshaw needs to watch his 3 goal performance against Freo late in the year at Marvel.

For the sake of team balance though, do you invest a top end pick in a guy that is very similar to what you've already got? i wouldn't be doing it unless we were considering trading out one of Angus or Viney.

I'd rather just take pick 3 to the draft and pick up Lachie Ash.

Do people just throw a rumour out there just to get discussions?

Don't all supporters do that?

I'm with you. Also would keep both brothers here you would think.

Yes. We have some who are famous for it.

Would consider trading 3 for Cerra, Langdon and 26.

22 and 26 to GWS for pick 12

Far fetched but I would do it

Petrucelle would be a great get, liked his final against the Cats. With the Rioli situation and Bolton extending at Richmond you would think Eagles would be very keen to keep him now.

Dees were into him big time during his draft year, just didnt make it to us unfortunately. Agree that the lack of Rioli will make it hard, but I think Geelong would be chuffed getting pick 3 back for Kelly.

Doubt we’d get 26 back. As good as pick 3 is, Freo paid a top 10 for Cerra, and Langdon will be worth that 20-30 range. 3 for Cerra and Langdon is an interesting prospect.

When people want what you have, you get to name the price and if not met, keep what you have.

We are in the box seat and should go hard. Of course you ask for more than is reasonable. What you end up with is determined by other's desperation.

Fair enough. The one problem I have deaing with Freo here is that Tim Kelly appears like he’d rather retire than end up at the Dockers

We are in a pretty good position here.

We have GWS wanting an early pick to try and get a pick earlier than the nomination for Green.

Freo and West Coast in a war to get the highest pick to satisfy Geelong.

Pick 3 for Gaff in a heartbeat.

weve been into him for years

Didn't make it to us? We chose Spargo, Fritsch & Petty before him. He made it to us, we chose not to pick him. Furthermore, we took Baker at 48, so it gives some clue into the mindset of our club 2 years ago, that we valued outside speed as a 4th priority with only a late pick.

Edit: It might work out great though if the opportune pick of Petty at 38 becomes a mainstay and we address speed deficiencies elsewhere.

Don't mind it at all.

what about

3 & 22  for 7, Langdon and 26

Kelly's nominated West Coast, so can't see Freo becoming part of the equation. Looks like we're trying to keep splitting pick 3 separate to the Langdon deal.

We've been into him for so many years he will be heading towards the ripe old age of 28 by start of next season.

Pick 3 for Gaff only? Can't see it happening.

Scott Brother 1 is on record saying he can't see the trade happen ans that he'd expect 4 round one picks and a player to trade out Tim Kelly. Seems reasonable.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • POSTGAME: Geelong

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
