What would the Hawks give us?

Hawks have Pick 11,30,50,87.

Pick 30 is about right I think , 50 is Unders of the back of his 2019.

This is where Mahoney and co need to be smarter when discussing our own players during trade week. Talk them up even if you don't rate them helps drive up the price. We suck at this

Hawks have (or will) used 50 for Patton. How TF do they get away with this. 50 for Patton 54 for Scully. Both former no 1 picks. Un-**********Believable.

It's a salary dump by GWS. They have an abundance of young talent and even more to come through their academy.

They didn't need either, so the Hawks take on their salaries and get to give up very little in picks.

For what it's worth, Patton is around a B- level of player, if that so I'm not too fussed.

You are either under 14 or insecure.

I truly believe umpires have biases; but to put out there, that professional journo has a 'solid hatred' without foundation is overstepping the mark by a long way.

Barrett sticks his neck out, and will get it chopped off if he is proven wrong.  Supporters have to realise that the people that have constantly praised every decision that this football club has made over the past 50 years, might 'love' the MFC; but history has proven that they were mad.

Give me the person that has invariably criticised the club and its decisions for much of the past 50 years, before the fact, and I call him (her) Einstein.

Gone. Pick 42, 61, Future 4th and Frost for Pick 50, Future Second Round Pick.

Edited by AshleyH30

Deal Done

Frost& 42 & 61 future 4th

50 and Future 2nd.

Basically a second round pick for a depth player.

Big win for Mahoney

I have faith in Petty being able to cover lever as the intercept/ second tall - think a lot on here are underrating him :). But yes sad to see him go, hope we have fewer injuries next year.

Surely you jest?

Big loss for us.

If May and Lever can't get on the park again this year and O. McDonald becomes our main key defender then it will be a disaster.

Great result for culture.
If only you knew.

Very disappointing on both a rational and emotional level.

A failure of the coach and footy department.

So many reasons he should have been retained.

I know not everyone is into the points like me, but with rough estimates of future picks etc this works out to us giving up Frost for pick 50.

Anyone got the points value of the trade? Future 2nd is obviously speculative, however I see Hawks being around that 6-10 mark next year

Think we got shafted again. Frost was improving as the year went on and we lose more leg speed.

and $650k saved in salary

This will give me great comfort when O. McDonald has five goals on him at half time on Ben Brown and May and Lever are sitting on the sidelines.

Future second for Langdon hopefully.

Wasn't asking for that much from what I heard.

And that's cancelled out by Langdon anyway.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
