He was definitely there, but the story Trade Radio went with was that the Director of Football was the only other employee in the meeting. No List Manager. If true what might that mean? Pies have made an offer and that's that?

What I have heard is that we came hard for Elliot but he's more likely to stay at Collingwood now as they've upped their offer due to rival interest and due to Wells retiring.

"I just went to have a chat with Walshy about a few changes happening ... I've got a few things happening in the next couple of days but hopefully (I'll stay at Collingwood)," Elliott said as he left the club on Thursday.

I don't really connect the two CBD.  Frost re-signing might somehow be linked to other deal/s or he just upped his price too high.  Or Goody & Co. just don't rate him.

My biggest concern would be, and i hope the talk / reports are incorrect, IF Goody &/or some within the FD believe O-Mac is depth and can cover off on the likes of Frosty (if needed).

Good luck to O-Mac at VFL level and hope he enjoys his footy there.  I'm sure he'll be fine outside of footy anyway with a Melb uni Bachelor of Science behind him once he graduates.  Smart cookie and could even go into golf if he wanted hitting off scratch.

OMac will play senior football next year. Happy to place an avatar bet on it.

That sounds like what someone who's leaving would say....

Going out on a limb there binman!

I'm still holding out hope as I think he'd be good for us, but everything I've heard is that he'll stay.

Combine testing is on at the moment, so I'd say the list manager would be there. Director of footy probably indicates more about trying to sell the club and comparing it to others. Good chance to come is what I've heard, we'll know by the end of Saturday.

Forgive me, but what is the importance of Saturday?

Unfortunately you are probably spot on Bin.  We are miles apart on how we see O-Mac and will never agree.  Quite possibly the Coach, some within the FD & angry bird still have wraps on him becoming a B+ or A grade backman.

A hangover from the Macca era where he went all in on his favorite boys prior to seeing how they might perform on the big stage.  Weid was another of those he thought would become a gun when he first arrived.  Talk about putting pressure on the poor buggers.  Just prep, train & let em play to their best....que sera, sera

Frosty apparently demanding $650k O Mac probably on $350k. If May and Lever play Hore can be the 3rd defender. I'd probably rather him in that role than Frost. Petty is building. O Mac fill in player if there's injuries .

Interesting. Wonder what happened, and after he requested a trade to them.

Did he? I can't find anything from him, his manager or Hawks

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
