Just things I've heard, and I'm just a mug punter so don't take it as gospel, but there's apparently some knocks on the physical side of his game. Exceptionally skilled of course, which may seem him still valued highly, but potentially could slide.

If that is the case surely it’s been that way all along then? The only way i could see it being the opposite is if someone had copped a head knock.

We won't be taking Young, and I think people may be surprised by where he potentially ends up being picked.

Where might that be??

Is there a player currently playing at our club in any position that can continually nail passes like he does? Hitting up teammates in heavy traffic and/or putting them into space.

ah No.... Salem occasionally!

I'm no expert or insider so only guessing, but from what I've heard I wouldn't be surprised to see him go outside the top 10.

Have you just watched his highlights videos? I've seen him miss just as many simple kicks and run himself into trouble then turn it over quite a bit in the games I watched.

No idea TBH, I haven't followed the potential draftees closely this year so only going on things I've been told.

We do all sometimes get a bit sucked in by mock drafts though and generally there's at least a few players who go in very different orders to predicted.

Yup. You definitely caught me out. But he also has a super-high D/E - and while that stat is mostly b/s, it's high compared to all the other half-backs in the pool. The fact that he can nail a high number of those damaging kicks is exciting - and as been stated before, why is everyone talking about the upside of other unproven draft prospects while dismissing any potential upside in Young?

I’ve watched about 4 and 1/2 minutes of him, not doubt he turns the ball over on occasions, all players do. I’m guilty of using the word continually, I’m not going to start every sentence with “could be” or “has the potential” just to safeguard myself against doting wordsmiths. Put it this way, you could put any players highlights of passes together that played for us last season and it wouldn’t look half as good.

ManDeee - I have a writing degree and work in the field. It doesn't matter when, but 'phenom' has indeed become an accepted noun - a back-transformation which demonstrates the flexibility and thus dominance of the English language - which like all languages,  should be judged on the ability to communicate an idea. In this instance,  the notion that Young if a [censored] bloody good kick.

my gs drives me mad continually using the verb "versing" as in "who are the demons versing this week?"

So anywhere from 3 to outside the top 10, bit of a strange draft. Wonder if other club forum/message-boards are as conflicted as we are

I wouldn't be upset if we got him, I just don't think he is a sure thing like some here think. He has just as many question marks around his game and how it would transition to AFL level as Jackson.

The truth is there are big question marks over every candidate for pick 3. None of them really grab my attention and can see the flaws in all of their games.

The player I like the most in the top 10 is the player we need the least, Robertson.

My offspring loses eating rights for a week every time 'versing' is used in a sentence.

He's more of your poker, stabbing at it. Salem never kicks a 50m bullet like dagger the way Tex Walker does. Furthermore, you don't just want target hitting, but target creating. ie leading your reciever into the space YOU want to kick. Salem doesn't do that so much imo.

Nah purple as I said. Shame he’s at Freo. They’ve cleaned up landing Young, Serong and Henry! Biggest winners of draft night by far!

Did Carlton end up swapping first round picks within Adelaide?

If there is any truth to the Damo reported rumour of LJ heading to Freo.

Can we get Hayden Young in a pick package?

Perhaps in 2026 or so when Young is out of contract

Firstly I wouldn’t put any stock in anything Barrett says

Young however recently signed a multi year extension with the dockers

We would turn down two first rounds and Griffin Logue. But If Both clubs know what won't get it done this far out, then they can both work on ascertaining which "future" star will have to be swapped. And working on a dialogue that gets both the player and team to amicably agree to have the Dees take up that contract. You have to give up part your future for a different one ala Judd/Kennedy.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
