With the VFL side now out of the finals race I wonder when they will announce first official delisting.

First thing Monday?

A recent AFL.com.au article states that we are just about singing every player.

Quote

Out of contract: Kade Chandler, Kyle Dunkley, Sam Frost, Jeff Garlett, Declan Keilty, Jay Kennedy Harris, Jay Lockhart, Nathan Jones, Tim Smith, Billy Stretch, Corey Wagner

Joel Smith, Josh Wagner and Oskar Baker are all locked in for next year, while the other Wagner – Corey – and mid-season draftee Dunkley are also expected to continue. Frost is enjoying a career-best season and will come to terms at some point, while Jones is also going to continue next year. Stretch and Lockhartshould also get fresh deals and Chandler just made his AFL debut after some promising VFL performances, but Tim Smith is highly unlikely to play on. Garlett, Kennedy Harris and Keilty are in a holding pattern.

If it was up to me I'd start with delisting Jones at 9:01 Monday morning.

And I thought Kade Chandler wasn't. Didn't we just draft him?

We probably need to make about 8-10 changes, so besides the obvious few, some more players will be moved on.

Maynard and Lewis are gone, Keilty, JKH and Garlett are likely too. Tim Smith and Josh Wagner could also be added and Walker the rookie is probably gone. That is 8 and maybe another 1-2 could and should be traded, like ANB who IMO has no future with us. His mate Billy might get another year, with Josh's brother Corey.

I assume the first line of that paragraph indicates they've signed new deals, but it also has a number of inconsistencies.

Rookie draft pick, so he's only on a one year deal, but I'm pretty sure he'll get a 1 year extension.

All club commitments will be completed by Wednesday.  Exit interviews etc completed by then.  Suspect we will hear about ‘retirements’ early, delistings after this.  Suspect there might be a few held over in case of trade value etc.  I think be Wednesday we will have a first idea of how big the blood letting will be...

Question:  Is there a ‘surprise untouchable’ that will go on the market?  ie, Watts, Hogan?

Lewis, Tim Smith and Maynard are gone. I think we can only sustain about 6 list changes per year without risking depth issues.

Garlett, Stretch and Corey get 1 more year I think.

ANB and Keilty have to be traded or delisted.

I'm undecided on Omac and Jones.. I think they stay for now.

Sign Frost!

Owe him what? What would he add if he stayed on? Certainly not leadership or class, we cant afford any passengers no matter how “feel good” the story is In a perfect world everyone gets to play 300 games.

I'm happy to delist him at 10:01 or 11:01 if it makes you happy.

Ideally package him up and trade him to some other battling team.

Honestly I'll keep him if he's willing to play VFL and get paid minimum chips and that would be a decision made through loyalty, but it will also take loyalty from Jones to put his hand up and be honest about where he's at. And some strength of character from Goodwin to back in younger players with a healthier list next year.

Unfortunately Jordan Lewis' career at Melbourne has shown Goodwin is incredibly soft on declining older players. So I don't trust him to manage Jones.

Jones lost us the game yesterday and I'm angry at him but the whole club should be because it's complete trash for a captain to just throw away a game with an awful error but that's where we are at as a footy club.

We owe him nothing. He has been well paid.

The game moves on

That worked well when we offloaded James McDonald if I recall.

We also need to factor in Brayshaw and Hunt trades...so we may not delist as many as people think.

It was the right thing to do. Junior didn’t like it

we are far too soft on older players

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
