With the VFL side now out of the finals race I wonder when they will announce first official delisting.

First thing Monday?

ย

Exit interviews Monday morning.

Youโ€™d expect the club to be professional and make sure the players concerned are the first to know.

A recent AFL.com.au article states that we are just about singing every player.

Out of contract:ย Kade Chandler, Kyle Dunkley, Sam Frost, Jeff Garlett, Declan Keilty, Jay Kennedy Harris, Jay Lockhart, Nathan Jones, Tim Smith, Billy Stretch, Corey Wagnerย

Joel Smith,ย Josh Wagnerย andย Oskar Bakerย are all locked in for next year, while the other Wagner โ€“ย Coreyย โ€“ and mid-season drafteeย Dunkleyย are also expected to continue.ย Frostย is enjoying a career-best season and will come to terms at some point, whileย Jonesย is also going to continue next year.ย Stretchย andย Lockhartshould also get fresh deals andย Chandlerย just made his AFL debut after some promising VFL performances, butย Tim Smithย is highly unlikely to play on.ย Garlett,ย Kennedy Harrisย andย Keiltyย are in a holding pattern.

ย

If it was up to me I'd start with delisting Jones at 9:01 Monday morning.

I thought Josh Wagner and Baker were out of contract this year??

And I thought Kade Chandler wasn't. Didn't we just draft him?

We probably need to make about 8-10 changes, so besides the obvious few, some more players will be moved on.

Maynard and Lewis are gone, Keilty, JKH and Garlett are likely too. Tim Smith and Josh Wagner could also be added and Walker the rookie is probably gone. That is 8 and maybe another 1-2 could and should be traded, like ANB who IMO has no future with us. His mate Billy might get another year, with Josh's brother Corey.ย

I assume the first line of that paragraph indicates they've signed new deals, but it also has a number of inconsistencies.

Rookie draft pick, so he's only on a one year deal, but I'm pretty sure he'll get a 1 year extension.

Thank God itโ€™s not up to you!

Be Brave Demons...

Cut Deep, we have to get rid of those not up to it

Keep those with the right attitude

All club commitments will be completed by Wednesday. ย Exit interviews etc completed by then. ย Suspect we will hear about โ€˜retirementsโ€™ early, delistings after this. ย Suspect there might be a few held over in case of trade value etc. ย I think be Wednesday we will have a first idea of how big the blood letting will be...

Question: ย Is there a โ€˜surprise untouchableโ€™ that will go on the market? ย ie, Watts, Hogan?

Lewis, Timย Smith and Maynard are gone. I think we can only sustain about 6 list changes per year without risking depth issues.

Garlett, Stretch and Corey getย 1 more year I think.ย

ANB and Keilty have to be traded or delisted.ย

I'm undecided on Omac and Jones.. I think they stayย for now.

Sign Frost!

That is how you reward loyalty.?????ย  Give the bloke some slack and I feel we owe him.

Are we keeping Jones purely to get him to 300 games. Anyoneย see Hawthorn last night....

Owe him what? What would he add if he stayed on? Certainly not leadership or class, we cantย afford anyย passengers no matter how โ€œfeel goodโ€ย the story isย In a perfect world everyone gets to play 300 games.ย

I'm happy to delist him at 10:01 or 11:01 if it makes you happy.

Ideally package him up and trade him to some other battling team.

Honestly I'll keep him if he's willing to play VFL and get paid minimum chips and that would be a decision made through loyalty, but it will also take loyalty from Jones to put his hand up and be honest about where he's at. And some strength of character from Goodwin to back in younger players with a healthier list next year.

Unfortunately Jordan Lewis' career at Melbourne has shown Goodwin is incredibly soft on declining older players. So I don't trust him to manage Jones.

Jones lost us the game yesterday and I'm angry at him but the whole club should be because it's complete trash for a captain to just throw away a game with an awful error but that's where we are at as a footy club.

We owe him nothing. He has been well paid.ย

The game moves on

That worked well when we offloaded James McDonald if I recall.ย

We also need to factor in Brayshaw and Hunt trades...so we may not delist as manyย as people think.

It was the right thing to do. Junior didnโ€™t like it

we are far too soft on older players

need to move some of the momentum killers

ย Maynard and Lewis are gone with Smith likely also

Spargo,ย  Kielty

Trade if can Jones, Stretch, ANBย  OMac
