only games i care about are ours and carlton beating the aints

beyond that i hope the bears begin to firm for premiership favouritism with a big win over the cats, and that meth coke do the tiggas on OUR home ground

Looking forward to watching a real game of football today.  Brisbane and Geelong. Glad I eschewed last night joke fest.

Go Lions!  Wipe the smug look form Scott's face.  Nothing better than him doing dummy spits!

The boy's flown to Adelaide to watch the Pies

He's hoping for a Crow's win, but he's already in front as 0 got up 3 times in 4 spins whilst he was playing roulette

10 bucks straight up each time? Giddyup!

Derwayne is out of control with Carlton love today.

The peahearts wearing our jumper last night could learn a thing or two about pride watching Saints and Blues players in that game. Nothing to play for except respect and neither team gave an inch, all the way to the final siren.

Will our club ever show this much ticker?

Gee what a perfect afternoon to play footy at the G. Better than the rain and cold we had to put up with.

These 2 teams managed to get over 50,000 today. Obviously the weather helped and Carlton starting to win and of course Teague getting the gig.

It would be great to see the crows beat the pies.

Wow the brisbane geelong game is a thriller.

What a finish at the Gabba! Just wow Brissy. An ex Cat with the clutch moment. Gold!

How was that a free to Danger in the last 90 seconds.....

Because uncle Gil said it was.

Good to see the Geelong whingers lose.

Wow lions on top of the ladder. Good for them and what a great job Fagan has done. It's also good to see footy in brisbane doing well and a sell out crowd helps things.

Wow adelaide have started well. 5 behinds in the first quarter. That's not going to get you in the 8.

Would love to see the final ladder as WCE 2nd and Geelong 3rd so Cats have to travel to Perth for their first final!!  It would be poetic justice after Scott's year long protestations about 'deserving' a 'Home' final at the Cattery.

Of course they would get the next final at the Cattery but I like the karma of them travelling to Perth.  Could they go out in straight sets yet again!?

With all due respect to the Gold Coast Suns and Tony Cochring, if you're delisting a player like Jarryd Lyons, you can't be given a priority pick.

agreed

but they will be

Good point ? Fire

On another note, how close were we to appointing Fagan as caretaker coach in 2007, instead of Riley?

Don’t go there :(

Ok looks like the crows can't win. Obviously adelaide don't want to be in the 8. I know we are bad but 2 years ago this team made a gf and now may be on the verge of missing finals 2 years in a row.

Hopefully port can beat nth and jump above essenscum presuming they lose.

I just Loved the Lions rolling the [censored] cats!! also FWIW Dangerfield is the umps pin up boy, got an extremely dubious free late in the game which could have turned the match. Can't stand the arrogance! Agree re Scott this win has made my weekend!!

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
