Too many smiling Dees players after final siren.

If you were earning as much as they are, with no repercussion, you would too! Haha ☹️

Between both of your suggestions, we have a perfect club and we're ready for a tilt at the flag! I'm excited!

Not really sure you can blame the coach for the players ability to [censored] it up so often.

They are generating the opportunities so not really sure you can lay all of the blame with the coach

All their goals came at the top of the goal square pretty much.

I can’t recall one difficult set shot they nailed.

That’s a coaching thing.

Once again, we win all the stats but are useless going forward.

Your gameplan is junk Goodwin

Wake up Fool....

Sick of it...

Neale Daniher had to sit and watch that rubbish....

Oh for the days when we had guns around goal.

Sad and embarrassing.

Not playing Preuss to at least crash some packs and halve a few contests was criminal.

Goodwin. Doubts doubts doubts.

It's time that we reveal the worst kept secret in the world. TMac is injured and cannot compete.

Other teams know this now and just run off him. Preuss, Keilty, T.Smith... anyone would be better right now.

I'm glad that Goodwin didn't give up like I did earlier in the year, but it's time. Get the injured players rested. Reset for next year

yeah . . . blame the janitor . . . . it's not a coaching problem. FMD.

We are the worst 'professional' sporting club in Australia,  if not the world.

An embarrassment to the city, and to the game.

Rubbish. Besides, there's a team in Swaziland that's very, very bad.

It also annoyed the [censored] out of me when they said Grundy was the starting AA ruckman and Gawn was on the bench

Goodness me A) Get your facts right, and B) WATCH THE GAME IN FRONT OF YOU!

All about next season now, we have the rest of the season and the off season to fix this problem of not being able to kick scores.

Gotta play guys like Dunkley, Lockhart and Preuss and try a few different things.

I feel like i'm going mad watching Melbourne play. It's the same [censored] every game, just differing levels of [censored] opponents.

As ever... Been the case for a fair while. St Kilda this year and last year, Essendon etc etc

This is coaching

The whole f****** comp knows this. Every coach at every club ... even the players! ... know this. Except at one club.

  • Demonland changed the title to POSTGAME: Rd 12 vs Collingwood

Fast becoming irrelevant and a laughing stock...once again!

We can kiss 2020 off also IF...

-  The list isn't culled severely;

-  We dont pick up a genuine KF, a small goal kicking crumber and a classy outside runner (with crazy pace) who can finish on goal also; and

-  Goody doesn't add a possession game to our modus operandi

It's clear we just need to attack the ball even harder.

The same way we've been beat the last xxx years, smashed on the outside. Collingwood's defensive pressure was outstanding and we didn't match there, particularly on the spread

The lowlight was having to report a scum supporter today for abuse. No idea if anyone will follow it up, but he was drunk and abusive and of course had a small child with him, because why not continue the cycle of being a filthy piece of dog [censored]?!

Anyway I thought our backline was good. The difference May and Lever made was immense. May was excellent. Lever got better as the game wore on. Hannan likewise. So nice to have some quality back in the side.

Gawn was superb was always. Grundy can clean his shoelaces as far as I’m concerned. A superb midfielder and leader.

Our contested work was good, but as has been the case all year, we have no purpose using the ball going forward of Centre. I don’t know what the game plan is, but it’s failing. Chaos ball is dead.

Speaking of dead, Tom McDonald’s career... what has happened? I would give him the rest of the year off and pop Preuss at FF. How much worse can it get?!!

6.13 to 12.3 after quarter time.

I'm giving Goodwin until round 8 next year. Can't see him surviving mich beyond this year after two of three years missing finals.

This year was a failure after the Saint games.

He appears to have lost the players. Today was a sad sight.

I agree, I think we should be in full 2020 mode. Even if we try a few things and fail, we can't do much worse than we already have. We might even learn some things for next year! And we can do it with no risk.

The misery continues to be inflicted onto its suffering supporter base 55 yrs strong!

20+ yr member & completely guttered on how this club finds a way over the cliff after tasting some success. Have witnessed this so many times late 80s, mid 90s, & 2000s.

Is it culture, development, game plan, just fed up watching garbage play!

In no quarter did we kick more goals than points. after half time the pies kicked 9.0.

We have no forward presence and no idea of where or how to deliver into the scoring zone..

Preuss up forward would be great. He's tall, he presents, and he'll crash and bash, perfect.

Also really dug Lever, May out back. Maxxy was 20 feet tall out there.

Sorry about your neighbours out there, it's a real shame. The cycle is the worst bit.

You have to feel positive about the fact that we can get the ball. But we cannot use it. The utter disrespect that Goodwin shows the wings at the MCG is embarrassing and makes him look like a moron.

Nobody cares that we smash them in clearances because they know nobody on the outside can do anything with it.

Shat me too. Gawn is the reigning All Australian ruckman. Gawn absolutely destroyed Grundy today. Gawn is the number 1 ranked player in the league at the moment according to afl website. The media should give him the respect he deserves as the unarguable and official premier ruckman in the league.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024.
