Still no Preuss.

Unbelievable.

Quite a few very lucky players I reckon.

why recruit a bloke  build up his image, then not play him. Strange!

i watched the first three quarters last week And just got more despondent the more the game went. Just kept coming out of the centre in the third and they got goals!

Can anyone who watched tell me what the matchup or position changes caused us to start playing with purpose in the forth

can we play with those positions to start the game this week !!

Go Dees but I am still despondent!

I’m honestly stunned as to what the FD see in smith over the Weid. He’s played 2 vfl games and dominated in both of them.

hasn't exactly "dominated" but they were okay

The absence of Preuss amazes me ... should be included if only to relieve Max in the bathroom heat of Darwin

Im off to Darwin tonight to lend some support .Can any posters advise where we congregate to have a drink in Darwin ?The anecdotal evidence from the Gold Coast function is that we imbibe at the Boat Club but I haven't been able to confirm this .I would hate to wander in to some Crows haunt and be never seen again .Any info is appreciated

Second this, fly in tomorrow afternoon as by some fluke I have had some meetings scheduled there Saturday, can’t wait for the game.

Still one Spargo FFS, he was pathetic!

Yeah well ASTOUNDING!

Speaking to a great mate of mine who played almost 200 games many in the red and blue, he said he had never ever seen a small man so lacking in Pace, and Skill for a small man ! This from a VFL /AFL player who should know!

Astounding!

Not to mention  sticking with Smith over Weeds
Pft season done but suffice to say lets get some integrity in selection!

Baffling!

I’m trying to do the same for Brisbane game.....

I do hope Weid is a late in due to an injury for 1 of the 3 named on the bench. Will be our most balanced looking fwd line all season.

Mitch Hannan apparently on board to darwin and so is salem

I reckon hannan is one of the important players we have been missing this year.

I think he's in our best 22 and great when firing, but he isn't a consistent performer yet and i recall him being dropped at least two times last year. The oft remarked piece of cliche/wisdom is a players stocks grow more rapidly when they're out injured.

Salem, Hannan and Hibberd all bring much needed experience back into our side. The Hannan selection to me is smart, get him and straight into AFL fitness.

Um he's a rookie on our list.

Was it really that simple, did they rest anyone in the centre ?

A rookie on our list who some peanuts have already written off.

+414 games experienc net... amazing to think Petty, Lockhart and Wagner total only 11. Hopefully going to get some much needed leadership and direction.

Petty medial strain, was limping durin 4th Qrt and reported after. He didn't train

Lockhart is a mystery

We can rule out leather poisoning

Why does Lever look like he just got out of a prisoner of war camp? Puny, pale, unwell-looking. His arms and legs look wasted. Why hasn’t he been in the gym building up his physique in the 12 months he’s been injured/in rehab?

Crows with Gibbs,  Lynch and Jenkins in.... Lynch is a big in,  hopefully underdone

We should get their fitness guy, Lynch only misses a week with a hamstring???

Three really good additions.  Hopefully they add some experience, polish and skill in their three respective roles.  We  might see up to 11 changes from round 8-9 to round 12-13.

Michael’s son

I'm not one usually to get too discombobulated about selections but i'm bamboozled by Spargo getting a gig ahead of JKH. Flummoxed even.

Was an emergency after struggling at VFL level, gets a late call up and puts in a stinker.

Must be 2019 written off and last chance saloon for the marginal list cloggers

Maybe genetics? Dustin Fletcher was never a beefcake

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
