F. Garlett T.Smith Lockhart

R. Gawn, Brayshaw, Oliver

I/C. Jones, ANB, JWagner, Harmes

We need as many runners as possible across all lines against the Tigers. They will do the same as the Saints try and run us off our feet. Can't play the long bombs against them, but also need to get it in quick in a similar vain to how Port played on Good Friday against the Eagles

Two way running and being on the back shoulder of your direct opponent are non negotiables

A very thoughtful selection-hope the selectors take note of this.

Time to bring in Kielty and play him up forward so we can at least contest the ball in the air.

TMac out for a rest if he's not fully fit or off to Casey to find form if he doesn't have an excuse. Wouldn't be against dropping Weideman to bring in someone like Lockhart too.

I love it, BUT might have a few other positional changes. Agree with all outs except Jones who plays midfield

Not sure about Gus and Clarry on wings

Big Tim Smith also comes in

Something like this

B  SALEM  T MAC  HORE

HB FRITTA  FROST  HUNT

C SPARROW JONES CHANDLER

HF MELKSHAM  KEILTY  PETRACCA

F GARLETT  BULL SMITH LOCKHART

RUCKS  GAWN  CLARRY  HARMES

INTER  WEEDS, STRETCH , VINEY , GUS

INNS  SPARROW, CHANDLER, GARLETT KEILTY, BULL SMITH LOCKHART  STRETCH ( 7 INNS)

OUTS PRUESS inj, JETTA Inj, WAGNERS BOTH, SPARGO ,HIBBERD  AND LEWIS ( RETIREMENT)

Offers pace on wings run of half back strength in the spine and crumbers in Full Forward 3

Thoughts?? ( Wont happen though club is scared to drop/ rest a few big names) But I'm with you Grey Wolf

Cmon Goody be BOLD!

The outs are all plausible PF....IF we had some depth of talent in form at Casey to cover them all.

The likes of Spargo & Cwag should still be playing at Casey to develop and learn their craft for another season or so before getting a recall (if justified and a spot becomes available).

Bringing in Sparrow and Chandler is a deck chair job at this point in their career IMHO for the same reasons.  Young blokes will only be scarred if they are exposed to too much ugly footy at senior level.  Yes I'm putting Lockhart in which is against all that but he has shown a little and IMO we need a smaller defender out of the back pocket to combat the small brigade of the Tiges.  Locky has shown a glimpse of something special albeit small but has played predominantly down back in his junior years and is supposed to read the play very well from there.

Jones better suited to be being played mostly as a deep forward now IMO.

So until we get Pruess, Nev, May, Lever, Hannan and AVB back this would be my best 22 for the Tiges...

In:  Keilty, Garlett, Lockhart, Stretch

Out:  Spargo, CWag, Pruess (inj), Nev (inj)

B:   Lockhart  Frost  Hore

HB:  J Wag  TMac  Hibberd

C:-  Salem  Clarry  Fritschkreig

HF:  Melk  Weids  Hunt

F:  Garlett  Keilty  Tracc

Followers:  Gawn  Harmes  Gus

INTER  Jones, Lewis, Stretch, Viney

Edit:  KK or ANB omitted... had one too many!

Does anyone in our team even know what that means anymore?

Have rarely seen them try it since Roos coached.  Would do wonders for our defence if they did.

If the club is serious T-Mac is playing at Casey. He’s been gifted 5 games to find form and found none.

Theres not a chance in hell he is anywhere near fit.  Hes looking like Juice Newton out there.

@picket fence will love that

Juice playing scintillating footy at the moment as Capt of Wangaratta Maggies

Kicked 8 or something in the 2017 GF !! LETS GIVE HIM A CALL!!

From local press release

"Newton returned to Wangaratta from Norwood and Melbourne in 2016 and has kicked 42, 74 and 81 goals for the Magpies to widely be regarded as the best player in the league."

Aged 30ish  ahhh why not???

Hey Dazzle you knew I couldn't resist but we all need a touch of brevity, however strange and fantastic at the minute!

Watched him in that Grand Final too. Dominates and is far too good for Ovens and Murray level.

With Jetta out it gives us a chance to play Sparrow back, he is a strong kid, is not slow and good in the air. He's the closest to Jetta we have. Lets see if he can play...

If Tmac is fit he can go back and help Frost...

Viney is not fit enough to play as a mid, we struggle for defensive forwards and that's where I would put him with short bursts in the middle.

I like Salem back but we need some smarts in the middle so I would rotate him through the guts.

A starting midfield of Oliver, Brayshaw and Viney doesn't work.

I would bring Fritsch forward as part of a more unpredictable and mobile forward half with Garlett coming in.

That will give us Fritsch, Trac, Pruess if fit (maybe Keilty if not), Viney, Weid and Garlett...as the starting forward 6. Can't carry Tmac, Weed and Pruess in the same forward half...

I would move Melk up the ground as he and Salem are our 2 best field kicks...probably rotating off wing or half back...no point wasting his kicking power to far forward.

More midfield time for Trac, another point of difference in there.

Who goes out.

I wish it was Lewis but it won't be.

Spargo, Jetta of course and I would bring in Billy for C.Wagner.

Does anybody think Trac is carrying an injury.  The reports from the pre-season was that he was flying and was spending considerable time in the midfield through the Practice matches and JLT.  Now into the season, he doesn’t seem to be going anywhere near the midfield.

Personally from what I've witnessed he looks fine other than skin folds!?? ?

He is big and mobile and hard to tackle if he hits the contest hard.  We played him there in small doses last season and wouldn't mind seeing him play there a tad more.   Rjays idea of Viney at HF (or even deeper) has merit alternating with Tracc in the middle.  Might also help Viney shake off any tag a little.

Play him off the circle a little and tell him to run through anyone that gets in the road (eyes only for the pill of course!)

Surely he doesn’t have skin fold issues.  I think maybe he just pushed the weights to much over the off season..

Just seems odd based on how good he looked through the praccy and jlt matches.

Concur Rusty. We are very low on GOOD depth and desperately need fit and firing May, Lever, Hannan (in particular) and AVB along with some HUGE upside in our so called present better players like Oliver, Melk, TMac & Hibberd.

Tongue in cheek D11.  He does seem to be carrying a little too much though when you look in the flesh.  Who knows he might shed a little (muscle!) and find half a yard as the season wears on.

I'm probably seeing it all [censored] up but i think he hasn't been as bad as some are suggesting, given the poor form of the team as a whole.  If we were somewhere near our form of last year he might be smashing it.

There's no point in playing the Wagners and Lewis.  They won't be there next year and we need to get game time into some of the others, regardless of the results

We are in a bit of a fix Doc.  Cant argue with any of that.

The impact of an in form and fleet footed Hannan in the 2nd half last year as well as the injection of the hard hitting & clever decision making of AVB after his comeback, were both significant factors in us making finals and going deep.

OUT: Viney (injured / rested), Spargo, C Wagner, Jetta (injured)
IN: Stretch, O Mac, Garlett, Lockhart

B: Hore - Frost - Hibberd
HB: Salem - O Mac - J Wagner
? Harmes - Brayshaw - Melksham
HF: Petracca - T Mac - Hunt
F: Preuss - Weideman - Garlett
Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Jones
I/c: Lewis - Stretch - Fritsch - Lockhart

That is not a good lookin’ squad...I reckon eight missing from an ideal 26...it’s a big proportion of quality and depth just not there at the moment

INJURED: May, Viney (?), Lever, Kolodjashnij, vandenBerg, JKH, Jetta, J Smith

SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
