Don't even get in his ear. Let carlton think they can get him via the psd.

Then let him and carlton know he is ours when Mahoney reads his name out.

This would be an absolute bonus pick up, we should seriously consider 3 years at around 400k.

This would be a steal.

Apparently GC offered Martin + 15 for 9, but Carlton refused.

9 + a future second.

Anyone know what his contract demands were with Carlton? Aparently he was very excited about playing with Betts, maybe Lord Nev needs to make a phone call and tell him he can train against the best small defender in the game and hone his craft! ?

Take him in the PSD. Would be the perfect end to a successful offseason if that occurred!

Play him at half forward as the kick inside 50 and stealing a few goals. Perfect fit for us with a bit of agility, pace, and great kicking skills.

Make it happen Dees!

The 3 AFL 2019/2020 priority picks allows GCS the luxury of possibly losing Martin for zip.

I'm glad they played hardball - it sends a strong message.

Yep agreed I couldn't believe the "experts" were rating him as a mid 20s pick. Surely a pick around 12-18 is what was needed to get him over the line.

Carlton fans surely will be fuming, I'm sure a 35 year old Betts might get a goal of the year nomination for them.

Does anyone know what sort of coin he was asking for at Carlton?

This would actually be so amazing and the biggest FU to those carlscum supporters if we nab him in the PSD.

Here's hoping he is good mates with May and or KK.

Get out the big suitcase.  This guy is now highly gettable.

PRE SEASON DRAFT.  HE IS OUT OF CONTRACT.

GIVE HIM 3 YEARS MINIMUM.

MAKE IT HAPPEN DEES

I don't understand how the Blues would not accept Martin and pick 15 for pick 9?

Especially when you've gone down the route of offering a deal and telling Martin you want him at your club. If I was Jack Martin I would be seriously pi**ed.

Say what you want about Mahoney, at least when we chase players we make sure to get the deals done, even if people feel we pay slight overs.

I really hope we can use Carlton's ineptitude against them and lure Martin to the Dees.

I think they needed pick 9 for papley.

Bad luck Carlton, you missed out on both.?

True. But surely when it becomes obvious that deal is dead in the water you get something done.

Apparently that report was incorrect and it was Martin and 15 for 9 and a future second. Which is fair enough to knock back.

Martin for free would be a dream result, but you can bet Carlscum will do some salary\contract manipulation to scare us off

Havent been around for the frenzy his arvo. Can someone explain his situation and how likely it is we’d be able to get him. Is he a chane to go through the National Draft or am I wrong in assuming that

I think a lot people on here are trying to figure that out, GC intimated to the Blues that they would redraft him if the deal fell through so GC and Martin/his management will be the biggest obsticals. I'm not sure how it works with the draft, I believe he can nominate for either the National or the Pre Season Draft but who knows how it will play out from there.

Let's not get too excited as of yet. Martin has to verbally say he wants to commit to us before he nominates for the pre season draft.

He could also be delisted and be picked up as free.agent by the blues.

I personally think that's pretty fair.

That 2nd round pick will probably end up around 30.

That would value Martin around pick 18.

Even if the 2nd round pick is 25, it still values Martin around pick 15.

I agree it's unlikely, but you never know.

I highly doubt the Suns will re-draft him now.

Surely there is zero reason for GC to do that, if they want to make him an example of a new found stoic nature with trading out their players they will make the route for Martin as difficult as possible. Otherwise what's the point of standing their ground at negotiations.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
