phuket demon 79 Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 Don't even get in his ear. Let carlton think they can get him via the psd. Then let him and carlton know he is ours when Mahoney reads his name out. 3 Quote
YesitwasaWin4theAges 6,825 Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 This would be an absolute bonus pick up, we should seriously consider 3 years at around 400k. This would be a steal. 2 Quote

DistrACTION Jackson 10,736 Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 Would love if we somehow added him in the pre season draft! Play him forward and wing to add some silk. 1 Quote

Aparently he was very excited about playing with Betts, maybe Lord Nev needs to make a phone call and tell him he can train against the best small defender in the game and hone his craft! ? 6 Quote
Lord Travis 10,819 Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 Take him in the PSD. Would be the perfect end to a successful offseason if that occurred! Play him at half forward as the kick inside 50 and stealing a few goals. Perfect fit for us with a bit of agility, pace, and great kicking skills. Make it happen Dees! 3 Quote
Lucifers Hero 40,722 Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 The 3 AFL 2019/2020 priority picks allows GCS the luxury of possibly losing Martin for zip. I'm glad they played hardball - it sends a strong message. 3 Quote

Surely a pick around 12-18 is what was needed to get him over the line. Carlton fans surely will be fuming, I'm sure a 35 year old Betts might get a goal of the year nomination for them. 1 2 Quote
Gawn's Beard 383 Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 Hoping that @Yokozuna or @Chook in Perth (and others in the know) might be able to keep us appraised on J Martin and whether we’re in / commence dialogue in the coming days 1 Quote

GCDee 3,202 Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 This would actually be so amazing and the biggest FU to those carlscum supporters if we nab him in the PSD. Here's hoping he is good mates with May and or KK. 1 Quote
spirit of norm smith 16,679 Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 Get out the big suitcase. This guy is now highly gettable. PRE SEASON DRAFT. HE IS OUT OF CONTRACT. GIVE HIM 3 YEARS MINIMUM. MAKE IT HAPPEN DEES 1 Quote
DistrACTION Jackson 10,736 Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 (edited) I don't understand how the Blues would not accept Martin and pick 15 for pick 9? Especially when you've gone down the route of offering a deal and telling Martin you want him at your club. If I was Jack Martin I would be seriously pi**ed. Say what you want about Mahoney, at least when we chase players we make sure to get the deals done, even if people feel we pay slight overs. I really hope we can use Carlton's ineptitude against them and lure Martin to the Dees. Edited October 16, 2019 by Collar-Jazz-Knee 10 Quote

Which is fair enough to knock back. Quote
sisso 2,627 Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 Martin for free would be a dream result, but you can bet Carlscum will do some salary\contract manipulation to scare us off Quote

I'm not sure how it works with the draft, I believe he can nominate for either the National or the Pre Season Draft but who knows how it will play out from there. Quote
dazzledavey36 56,336 Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 Let's not get too excited as of yet. Martin has to verbally say he wants to commit to us before he nominates for the pre season draft. He could also be delisted and be picked up as free.agent by the blues. Quote

Even if the 2nd round pick is 25, it still values Martin around pick 15. 1 Quote

Surely there is zero reason for GC to do that, if they want to make him an example of a new found stoic nature with trading out their players they will make the route for Martin as difficult as possible. Otherwise what's the point of standing their ground at negotiations. 3 Quote
