Spot on. Weideman will probably just pinch hit instead, although it's nice to have Keilty waiting in the wings if need be.

so, given that preuss will likely miss a bit of time with a groin, will we 'risk' gawn in the pre-season or withdraw him from today's game against the bears?

he plays ... but a bit more work into the alternate ruckmen

Preuss sounds like another 4-6 injury

Would be nice to have a Richmond like injury list during our window.

Sorry didn’t realise you were part of the match committee, the club has said they  want weed and McDonald to play forward, if keilty plays the ruck forward roll well he will come into calculations for round 1 imo

You can't put people in cotton wool.

He needs another hit out before round one.

The Preuss injury will make zero difference.

Do we actually know just how serious the Preuss injury is?  No? Yet he’s gone for 4-6 etc... nice to see some things never change on these forums.

Yeh i know right. It'll probably be more like 8-12...

Maybe if they play 3 key forwards in the same side today but they haven’t done that at any stage in the 2 games so far.

With Melksham back and rotating 187cm+ mids through the forward line they can spare 7 minutes a quarter of Weid in to the ruck, just as they did for the first half last week.

the news is a groin.... have you ever known a quick recovery from such an injury.

Could be better when he cools down but 4-6 is what to expect.

Nothing particularly pessimistic about it... just being realistic

It sounds like a pretty seriouse groin injury if he has limped off. Problem with groin injuries is that they can become debilitating over time if not managed well. I have managed mine for the past 5 years.

I would say he will be out 6 to 8 weeks. A lot of strengthening around the hips and abductors plus also that 1st week or so just to let it settle down a bit.

I am not professional though, but i have had experience with groin injuries and its not something you can miss short termx especially the way he has limped off significantly.

Did anyone else see Viney limping off after that contest in the middle where the Brissy player lost his shoe? He jogged off but he was sore. Good news being he is up and about after the game. Hopefully nothing in it

Well yes, if it is indeed a groin injury.

“News is...”... how often do we see initial reports getting it wrong.  It may we’ll be a groin, but let’s just wait and see before we pack him off to the glue factory.

For what it is worth, just saw Preuss walking off with no limb

Jebus: 'Casey Fields is located approximately 50km from Melbourne CBD in Cranbourne East.'

Not only does Cranbourne East sound like a truly horrible place, but I had no idea it was so far from Melbourne, you know, the name on our can. It's basically an away game.

Someone needs to take the blame for this travesty - and I doubt it's Jack Watts' fault, as there doesn't seem to be much in the way of top-shelf swimming and [censored] opportunities in the near vicinity.

Imagine having to go to Amersfoort ?

May not need 2 ruckmen for rd 1 anyway: Ryder off the ground for Port possible cheekbone injury

Tis but a scratch.

Reminiscent of the weekly injury reports re Jimmy on the Footy Show many moons ago...

"Jimmy had his left leg amputated during the week.  But, fear not, he WILL play this week...!"

OR, this classic:

"In this box are the ashes of poor Jimmy Stynes!  BUT, fear not, he WILL play this week...!!"
