Seeing that ladder at the end of the home and away season would make me very happy.  I'd quite happily settle for just being top four, but finishing top 2 would put us in a great position for double chance and garenteed home final as well.

I'll believe it when I see it, as the MFC has finished top four maybe once in the whole time I've followed them - hopefully our present crop of players can break the mediocrity mentality and change the ills of the past in this regards.

I’ll be interested to see how Richmond go with 6-6-6.  They were pretty much the worst centre clearance team in the league last year, and started with at least one spare in defence something like 96% of the time.  Unless they change their centre clearance work I can’t see them being top 4.  I’m sure they are working hard to rectify it, but Nankervis is just not that great a ruckman, and their best mid doesn’t like to tackle.

Lol, talk about hype. Be interesting to see how we handle it. Tough draw. We should finish top 4, but we'll see.

Yes, we're all scared of the hype but the thing is its's possible that this prediction could come true. For the first time in an eternity, the dees are capable of finishing sky high, if not on top of the ladder. To paraphrase Big Ted, " I'm excited"

Cant see Geelong in the 8. Essendon.....mer..i really have my doubts, unless they get the good gear from China... dont think Adelaide will make it either. Replace those with GWS, Sydney and Hawthorn. We should have been on top last year...

Geelong 5th?   Dont think so.

They will fall out of the 8,  and wouldn't that be lovely.

Hmm of that list, Collingwood is a top 4 side with the experience at 666, a bit of a worry.

Rance may find his role a whole lot more difficult, wont that be lovely.

Really excited about this season but I hope the club bans the players from taking baths. We also have to break the current trend of premiers coming from clubs never seriously expected to win the flag.

No way Geelong will finish higher over the Pies.

Pies deserve to be favourites

1. Pies

2. West coast

3. Dees

4. GWS

Happy if we’re higher. Our list is better and more experienced this year, but others will improve also.

Keen to see the Saints, Brissy and Carlton improve. Super keen to see Hawks, Swans and Richmond decline..

Having been on the receiving end of more than our fair share of thrashings over the last decade, I have zero problem if we hand out some to other's this season and beyond.

I think he's right, was only saying the same to a mate the other day.

The AFL need to be careful what they wish for...at least our dismal losing margin records (Cats & Fitzroy) could be in for a trashing with hopefully us dishing it out for a change.

Yes, I really hope so. Team I want to beat this year, I to wouldn't mind additions to the 'when will this record be broken', such as losing margin. Preferably Geelong to take it over.

We play Collingwood, Richmond and West Coast a total of 6 times. Last year the games were over at 3 qtr time against all of those side as we had poor losses (Bar the memorable rd 22 win.

Top 4 rests on those games.

I'm persuaded by George on the outer's argument that the 6 6 6 set up won't make the sort of impact some are suggesting.

Yes having six forwards behind the arc will give players coming out of the centre more time to dispose of the ball (meaning cleaner entries). But in reality there are not that many direct centre clearances.

Also teams wanting to negate the impact of a dominant ruckman can use their wingers defensively. They can also go man on man and work to create an immediate stoppage and create a secondary ball up. And there will be no restrictions in that scenario.

As I noted in the impact of rule changes I reckon the change to the kick out rules will have the greatest impact and may result in higher scores and therefore blowouts.
