I don't blame him. He's a talent and wants to play at the highest level. Doesn't mean he's not a team player he's most likely very frustrated. I think he is better than the 2 players you mentioned.

Clearly the coaching group don’t think so. The right call to omit him for Pickett.

Absolutely but I just thought on current form he's been much better than Sparrow. Pickett was always coming in.

As a player, I like Jordan, think he he has a lot of upside. I also think Sparrow has far more potential as our next inside bull. I just don’t see where Jordan fits, and maybe neither does he

Sam Weideman had 3 more years in the system. Please, do you really want to go there?

I've put a calendar reminder on for April 2026 - I'll get back to you after I review Sparrow's SANFL game then

Think that'd be more dependent on Melbourne the side rather than Sparrow the player

Quite amazing, as the Coach describes JJ’s game as “ exceptional “ and then drops him.

It’s still early in the season, but I am starting to get a Scott Thompson feel about this. Hope I am wrong.

He had a great game, and is super stiff but when I look at the 22 it's really hard to drop someone ahead of him, with Sparrow being the only option.

With Gawn a walk up start to come back in, I suspect that a small forward (either Spargo or Chandler) will make way as well.

Salem is going to add significant pressure to Hibbert, Bowery, Rivers or McVee as well.

I do think it is particularly important to make sure that the young guys get as many games as possible to ensure we keep the depth and the list profile/renewal. Sparrow and JJ in particular need to play as often as possible so they are there and ready. Losing them will put a hole in our list profile long term.

That's what they said about Scott Thompson.

While I’m against him being dropped after last weeks performance, bumping his MFC welcome thread as a morbid representation of his foreseeable departure is a bit dramatic isn’t it? 🤔

Why is everyone getting a Scott Thompson feel? He played every game in 04 until he got injured.

Maybe good for a first round pick swap plus player next draft ......with a really low Team.

Goodwin says a lot of strange things in pressers. The two recent ones that come to mind are:

1) adamant rather than confident that May would play in round 2.

2) continually and supremely confident Jackson would stay -  “loves his footy club”

I wouldn’t be surprised if JJ does suit up Sunday whether it be sub or a late replacement for Hibberd. I don’t recall an MFC player to ever be dropped after the level of output that JJ gave to the club last week.

He will be the sub. With Kossie back we have another forward option so Melksham probably won't get the gig.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
