Exactly why I'd hate to lose him. Can't see that pick helping us out if Viney and Oliver go down.

You are using one pick for the Preuss, another for KK leaving you with 4 picks between 33-55 and hopefully get the Bedford for pick 90ish as NGA pick

I disagree. I think we played Tyson over Fritsch because he is experienced and was considered to be more 'finals ready'.

He admitted he was nervous about being dropped and his three finals were all extremely underwhelming.

His manager has now come out suggesting he'd be open to a trade.

Clearly, and I mean clearly, he is not considered best 22 when we have a full squad available.

Based on your online persona you are probably the last person on earth I'd enjoy having a beer with but you are 100% right here.

I'll be keen to see Salem play whatever Tyson's role was/is after he is replaced on HB by some incoming bodies during the trade period.

What a truly bizarre pre-pending to the "you are right"

Not that bizarre if you've been exposed to STMJ's posts for long enough

Why? Salem was given a go in the middle in the first half of the season and showed he isn't that good at it.

We aren't getting a second round pick for him 40-55 is his value this would be similar for Kent and AVB

Eh whatever. Both Macca's picked in the 50s, so was Hunt. Still plenty of quality for scouts with the right eyes.

I would definitely keep Tyson. Let's not forget that Kennedy-Harris was in the side until Viney returned, and he is a long way from being an AFL footballer.

Perhaps Tyson is not automatic best 22, but every team has injuries during the course of a season and you need some cover. I would hate to lose Tyson and have to resort to playing a bloke like Maynard in a big game. At least you know that Tyson will find the footy and use it reasonably well.

JKH is a better winger than Tyson.

Tyson can win contested ball but he is one paced, gets caught in possession too often and his disposal is unreliable. All in all not a winger and I imagine he realises he will struggle to play regular senior footy at the Dees next year and beyond as we look to get more run in the team.

Still there are clubs who lack contested ball winners who he could play a role for over the next few years like the Blues.

My guess from a club perspective is that he is probably on a contract that pays him pretty well and they see him struggling to play every week so want contract off the books to create salary cap room.

Anyone who wants to retain Tyson must live in one of those houses where you have to crawl over furniture to get from room to room.

He is above average depth for us and I would love to keep him for this reason, but it’s extremely unfair to hold back someone who is clearly good enough to be in a starting 22 of a club not blessed with a hundred quality inside mids, for the purpose of covering injuries.

If he wants more game time, I understand why he’d leave and I hope we trade him to a club who really needs his type and get something good in return.

He clearly can play and is a pretty good inside mid. He’s just not good enough to get a starting position in our midfield. It’s a difficult position.

I was referring to where we had Tyson on a wing later in the season. Original post poorly worded.

There's no right or wrong way, we want depth in the midfield but he may want opportunity. Always a tough choice and no one size fits all approach.

This photo is from an art installation where a brother and sister cleared out all the stuff that their father had obsessively collected and stashed. Then they sorted it into a warehouse space. It just kept going and going.

You can't see in this photo but I believe both Dom Tyson was stashed along one side. Though he should have been in the middle for best effect.

And I say that as someone who has respect for Tyson and thinks he has been a solid contributor. But even his mum would say that he's better off being put to use somewhere else than left in storage at the Demons.

Looking forward to ETTheTradeBreaker having a bit of a photoshop of this and sticking Dom in the corner.... take it away, ET.

Tyson is the perfect surplus-to-needs “asset” in my opinion - quite a capable player in his own right, just not good enough for our already formidable midfield and should be able to be exchanged for an equally capable player who fills a pressing need.

If Carlton don't come knocking with one of pick 24 or 25 then they are idiots.

They don’t have to not do that to prove they are idiots, they have already shown they are.

125 votes in 17 games.

7.4 votes a game

1.8 per coach.

So more weeks than not the coaches thought Tyson was either not doing his role at all or just meeting the baseline standards.

Who was it that called Dal Santo up on SEN and corrected him about Tyson's disposal? ?

Was pissing myself when the Dee supporter called in and just shut Dal santo down.

Not a wise move by the fella, we want full trade value.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • POSTGAME: Geelong

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
