Jesse Hogan 152 goals in his first 4 years in 71 games.

Josh Kennedy 90 goals in his first 5 years in the AFL in 67 games.

Jesse averaged 50% more disposals in those games as well.

I think you are the one that needs to feel really embarrassed. Also I was rubbishing the get rid of Hogan thread. I never said he would have made a difference yesterday, so don't change the meaning of my post.

I said he could be our Josh Kennedy and people want to get rid of him. He is on better track than Josh was at the same stage.

He ain't going anywhere.

People need to quote posters correctly. I said he COULD  become our Kennedy not that he is.

And I said " he'll be" which infers a distant date. If you want to get pedantic ;)

at the end of the day he offers 0 forward pressure. 0! he is not a great kick for goal and is mentally weak. no surprise he was no loss in finals and he is only best 22 if he fixes his attitude.

Sorry you’re not a fan of stats but you’re commenting on a key forwards pressure numbers?

This is exactly what he is in the side for to Lay tackles

That isn't trolling.

Trolling is starting a thread calling to trade the best young key forward in the league.

Jesse Hogan laid significantly more tackles per game this year than Josh Kennedy has in either of the past two seasons.

Bob - sane posters know what he brings to the table and acknowledge how good he can be.  If he wasn't struck down by injury he would have kicked 50 goals this year and he can form the sort of 1-2 punch with T Mac that most other clubs could only dream of having.

Thankfully the club knows this as well.  There is no need to get sucked in by those who can't see past their nose (and no, Moonie, I'm not including you in that!)

I think you need to double check the grammar in this post. Otherwise it is wonderfully ironic.

And not Alanis Morisette ironic, but real ironic.

PS- I have clearly contributed to the discussion of this thread, despite it's clear idiocy at times. So your post is weird.

PPS- You're embarrassing yourself with the 'sponge' thing you're trying to be clever about. The avatar is based on my screen name, not vice versa.

I wonder if Sydney Swans are gearing up to  make a godfather offer to Hogan? They are apparently in the market for another forward to support Franklin and are clearing salary cap to land a big name.

They surprised a lot of people when they got Tippett and Franklin so it isn’t like they haven’t done this before.

Nice over reaction. Suits your stance. Real ironic? Surely you actually mean 'really ironic'. You seem to infer an unreal ironic. Now that's ironic.

I get it you're among those that dismiss the notion as wildly heretic.  I have no attachment to any player. I'll barrack for them in red and blue, otherwise they're irrelevant.

I'm only interested in a good competitive team. That team needs balance , depth , ethics and the right attitude. It must work together as a team and implore the team ideal.

I happen to think ( so it's just my opinion I grant ) that we function better without being hogan- centric. He hasn't shown imho the true grit required when face with superior competition. Others on the park do.

I'm happy for the club to sort that out as I am for them to entertain offers. I don't really care whether he stays or goes. If he adds to the equation, fine.

For mine the values placed upon him are exaggerated.

That said I'm more than happy if other teams see greater value in him and offer accordingly.

Lol you guys are unbelievable. you're so obsessed with stats. Stats only tell a little bit of the story. Kennedy doesn't stop chasing and harrasing and applies relentless pressure inside 50m. There's no stats for chasing, There's no stats for implied pressure.

Giving me tackle and goal numbers of kennedy/hogan etc. Seriously? You were probably the ones comparing watts to riewoldt statistically.

Hogan is terrible defensively and is attitude on field is a disgrace. He stages for free kicks and complains to the umpire when the ball is still in play. I know its hard for simpletons to look deeper than his goal tally and high draft position but he needs to dramatically improve his defensive pressure.

I was also one of the only posters in this forum at the start of the year that wanted to see more from petracca to prove that he had the polish to go to the next step as an afl player. And after this season now the media are on to him and realising that his disposal is poor and kicking for goal disgraceful. It usually takes people an extra season to look past a players draft position and call it as they see it. And i might add that anyone who thought jack watts was a good player and shouldve stayed should ban themselves from any football forum. Seriously embarassing the amount of people that thought pick 31 waa getting unders for him.

Every time I hear something about Hogan, Brendon Fevola crosses my mind.  It’s like an ear worm that won’t go away. And Fevola hasn’t played for a long long time.

I guess the bottom line is that some see Hoges being able to lead, mark and goal as good as Josh Kennedy in the next year or so.

I dont see that, but I can see how they have many similar attributes.

Hogan who although has stats showing he is incredibly fast, just cant get on a fast lead and mark high and in front.

because everyone who loves hogan were the same people crying to the club when we shipped him out for pick 31. they have no idea about football.  The only reason i'd want to keep hogan is if they turned him into a defender because you can't sook and whinge in the d50

I think WE at Melbourne get way too sympathetic and romantic over players who have a good story,,, but proved very little when it actually counts.

When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
