Well that's good news if he stays at the MFC.    Does Freo use the Richmond docs though?...

People certainly do talk rubbish. Hogan far more valuable unit than Lever.

Far more is ridiculous.

Slightly more I’d agree but both are key position players who have far exceeded the expectations based on their age.

If Hogan played somewhere else there is no way you would say he was worth pick 5 and 6

I want him gone.

I want May. I don’t want another will he won’t he year. I don’t want a player who isn’t all in. I want to improve our list and he feels surplus to our needs. He isn’t committed to us. He needs to leave.

We have supported him for years. Gave him everything we could. He clearly isn’t interested, not even now that we are on the verge of serious success. He’s gotta go.

I don’t believe it’s ridiculous at all.

You have your opinion I have mine.

Scans might take a day or so to come back and a medical might include a blood test which may take a few days or more for the results. ?‍♀️

A more informative and reasoned commentary by Michael Gleeson. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/fremantle-edging-closer-to-decision-on-hogan-20181010-p508x3.html

Key points (paaphrasing):

  • Full insight into navicular injury will not be available till after trade period ends
  • Freo Board has met to discuss Hogan
  • Talks are ongoing and progressing between the clubs
  • Melbourne has shifted from its initial position of demanding two top-10 picks
  • Discussions on a possible move of contracted Suns co-captain and full-back Steven May to Melbourne would not happen until a possible Hogan move was confirmed
  • The Demons want the Dockers' first pick, but negotiations will then centre on what else would be required to complete a deal and whether it requires another first-round pick this year or next year, or a second-round selection.

I don't think Mahoney has gone soft - just practical to get the deal done.  Two top 10 picks always unlikely and just his opening ambit.

My read is the deal will now happen.

Peter Bell is trolling media dupes harder than Sacha Baron Cohen at the moment.

Pretty pointless though. Hasn’t fazed the MFC none.

I would mark that down as a major fail if that's what we receive

AFL clubs would be able to turn tests results around in 24 hrs.

A first round pick and steak knives will do if that is what it takes. We don’t need another disrupted season.

Possibly. Either way, I don’t see why it matters when the results are made public.

Very glad you are not negotiating on our behalf - that would be ridiculous and totally inconsistent with recent precedents

I would be surprised and that is the worst case scenario.

An option (I'm being a bit creative):

  • pick 5 2018
  • a swap of 2019 first round picks.  Hopefully, in 2019 that converts to us receiving pick 5/6/7 and give up pick 17/18.  ie a significant 2019 first round upgrade for us.

To me that is a good compromise between Freo's 2019 1st round pick or a second round pick.

My read on this draft from some trusted types is there's somewhere between 7-12 really super players, where most drafts have maybe 3 top liners and another 4 or so highly rated. After that it's back to normal business (and a bit shallow in the later rounds).

So if the plan is to trade Hogan for May and a draft pick that Jason Taylor can use then I don't really care if it's Freo's pick next year, or this years pick 15 or pick 25. I certainly wouldn't cave but if there's pressure on to do a deal then I'd do the deal.

I'm more in favour of getting in some viable assets with a lot of late swaps - especially now that live draft trading can occur. So if the second part of the Hogan deal is a later pick but it comes with some 3rd round and future pick upgrades then I'd do that.

Hogan for May is what our team needs. Getting the extra value that we deserve can come in a lot of ways, the idea that a straight up top 10 pick is also needed is too ambitious.

Actually no it's fine. I'm fine

If he stays, I hope he's emental-ly prepared and emotionally invested in the club.

If he goes, then may it be for a feta trade price than Freo think is appropriate.

On this wensleyday it would be gouda if we heard what Jesse intends to do, but if he isn't traded next year he'll be a restricted Brie agent. If he does stay I'm tipping some will get a blue vein with their stilton!

Don't forget that Hogan is a restricted free agent next year (surely hes in top 25% of earners at club). So if freo and the media think we will get him for nothing next year they are wrong.

I guess we were due...

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
