He joined on Sept 27, but he’s definitely been here before; he referred to @Fifty-5 as “old55” in another post recently, when 55 dropped the “old” years ago. I’m guessing Range Rover or poster of that type. I could probably do some sleuthing to get to the bottom of it, but I can’t really be bothered.

That is the bloke I was trying to think of RR.... ppffttt

I don't think that is obvious.  For all we know the MFC may have been keen convince him to sign up long term, but he made it clear that was not an option.  So there was no point in us pressing it further.

We never were...I'm pretty sure of that too.

Again...what we start with.... do whatever....to what we need at finish.  The numbers ...just a means to an end. Irrelevant otherwise.

Lynch was a free agent.

And so are uncorrected players.

Im not sure what your point is.... you're arguing technicallites in the rules ie unrestricted, restricted, uncontested but you've missed the fact that regardless of a players contract status under the current rules the majority get to where they want to go in contact or not

Im keepimg teack of the Tim Kelly situation to confirm all the power lies with the players and fa no matter what categoriy you technically sit in fa is alive and well in the afl.

It will be interesting to see if the afl have the balls to address the imbalance and let clubs trade players before they are fas.

Ie the hogan situation, sheil etc to maximise value

Uncontracted and restricted/unrestricted free agents are very different things.

An uncontracted player must be traded, either for picks, players or a combination of the two. If an agreement can't be reached then that player has to nominate for the draft and hope no other club picks him up.

A free agent can walk to the other club without a trade, however often the club they are leaving will receive a compensation pick from the AFL.

While your point that most players reach their destination is correct, the two types of contract situations are very different.

anything less cannot be an option. they are rightfully asking for more than pick 5 for Neale and Hogan is worth more again.

Unless it’s pick 5 and a good player such as Cerra, Langdon or Brayshaw

with so much up in the air and so much reported uncertainty, it strikes me as somewhat inappropriate to be holidaying in bali whilst the next possible 10 years of your life is decided.

i  know there are mobile phone services in bali but it's not quite the same

off topic slightly but re Tim Kelly of Geelong

what is the "stand out" period these days. Used to be a year. Not sure if it has been changed.

By stand out I mean if you leave or refuse to accept an offer etc how long before you can join another club and do you have to rejoin via the draft etc.

cheers

Not in a million years would I trade pick 5 for Steven May. Jesus! What a disastrous outcome that would be.

I'd rather take a punt in the draft with talent that high, at least you'll get a decade longer out of them!

Are you perhaps suggesting that we have yet another crack at a tall King?

Can you clarify - is it a site guideline that if one changes their username that one must indicate this in a sig block or in some other fashion? It's not addressed here: http://demonland.com/forums/guidelines/

Why are you asking me a question that you provide the answer to?

I didn't say it was a site rule posters who change their name should indicate they have done so (however they choose to do so - another way might be to just to include their the fact it in a post).  I wouldn't have a clue. I'm not a moderator or DL rule expert.

Does it matter? Not in the scheme of things, no. But from a personal perspective i find it useful to know a posters history in terms of their content and previously expressed views. It provides some context and a level of accountability (eg a poster contradicting a previously strongly held view). This is particularly relevant (to me i might add - i can't speak for others) if a poster who is ostensibly 'new' to DL begins their posting history by bagging other posters.

I also think it is just good manners and yes respectful behavior. Others might not - as is their prerogative. And as i noted in the post you quoted this view informs my assessment of the credibility of the posters and what they write.

The other point is that from personal perspective i'm bemused as to why anyone would change their posting name and not be open about it. I mean what is to gain? But again each to their own

Two genuine questions to you Superunknown. Have you previously posted on Demonland under a different name (or names as the case may be)? And if so what was your previous name (or names)?

A lot of people are using proposed rule changes as the basis of their arguments on here. Just keep in mind these are still proposed at this stage.

The era we belong to thinks that way dc but the the current crop do not. It is all agents and communication by social media and  email. Face to face communication is the last option.

IMO sad but that is the way the world is in the 21st century.

imagine playing richmond next year with frost and oscar mcdonald pitted against tom lynch and jack riewoldt. f#$k me dead! lever is a 3rd man up defender. we need may.

Absolutely spot on. Not to mention Kennedy and Darling! Defence is a major impediment. As Collingwood found out a lack of a key defender can cost you a flag!

That seems certainly true at this stage. But it doesn't mean that MFC weren't keen for him to stay originally but for example required him to commit to a longer term.  When he refused that then we'd be foolish to publicly announce why or scream 'stay' and instead explore options.  We'd just say what the club has indeed said.

I think he has requested a trade to freo already before flying overseas, up to the clubs to sort it out now, both parties have agreed to keep things quiet. He'll go, just the negotiations and outcomes to follow.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti
